Ready to spill the beans but....

My DH is insistent on telling his family this Thursday at dinner (I'll be 11w6d - maybe a little soon but we're going for it). However, I am a little hesitant to do so because I am afraid they will spoil it for us by going public before we get a chance to tell my family. We will, of course, swear them to secrecy but I really don't trust MIL. Does anyone have experience with dealing with this?

    We told our parents after my first ultrasound at 6w5d, but we did not want to tell any other family members yet.  My MIL wanted us to call and tell all of DH's family.  We had to tell her multiple times that we were not ready to tell anyone else yet and she finally gave up after multiple attempts.

    Our theory about telling people is that we have told the people we would tell if I had a m/c.

    We told at 6 weeks parents only and told them to tell no one else.  They didn't tell we were lucky. 

    We made it very clear no one was to tell anyone.  Make your expectations of them clear and if you tell them you haven't told your parents yet they should understand that you would want to tell them.

    we told both sets of parents at the same time (1st pregnancy) and since it was early (6w) swore them to secrecy.   I had to threaten MIL with "you will not get ANY more info about the baby AT ALL if we hear that anyone has found out from you".    I was totally serious and she knew it.   But she'd still constantly ask:   Can I tell yet?!
