Hub to deploy about a month after LO is due. Fort Hood.

We're currently stationed at Fort Hood, though living off base, and my husband will be deploying for 6-7 months a little over a month after our baby is due. This is our second deployment and we're happy that it's only 6-7 months as we PCSed here from Fort Bragg and their deploy date was less then 2 weeks after we arrived(!) in midMay but because of his dwell time they aren't having him go till midNovember. Hopefully this time it will go quicker then the last deployment and since my best friend will be living with me to keep me company I don't think it will be too bad. I would also like to meet more Fort Hood wives in the area. So if you're a Fort Hood wife with a new baby I would like to know how you all are doing!

  • We'll be PCS'ing there in October but I'm not due till Feb..

  • Howdy! My husband was stationed at Fort Hood for 8 years and is now at Fort Sam Houston though we still live in Round Rock (about an hour south of Fort Hood). Our first one is due in March, but I have a few friends who've given birth a month of so after their husbands deployed--sometimes they were able to stay back for the birth, sometimes not. Having your friend with you will definitely help! My husband deployed 3x already and during the 2nd one, having my friend live 10 minutes from me was a lifesaver, especially since both our husbands got extended to 15 months in the middle of the tour.

  • We have been here for over a year now and our LO is due in October.  And from what I understand my hubby is deploying in February.  I know that is a bit different from your situation but I wouldn't mind meeting up and talking.
  • We're at Ft Hood as well. Not pregnant yet, but there's a lot of services here for family. It seems like everyone around us is getting pregnant lately so I'm sure you will find lots of other mommies.
  • I'm at Ft Hood. DH is going to be PCSing to Ft Myer in January, and I am stuck here until May when I start my terminal leave to ETS.
  • We're at Fort Hood too and live off post. I'm due in December and DH is scheduled to deploy again 4-5 months after LO is born. It's great that your friend will be living with you. I have some family in Round Rock and we might move towards them before DH leaves since I have no idea how I'm going to do this on my own and work full-time an hour away in Austin.
