My Dr. didn't tell me anything, but I was asked when I got to the hospital for the u/s if I had a full bladder. I had mine at 17 weeks and hadn't had one yet in my preg so they were also double checking the due date. Idk if that made the full bladder matter more or not.
Nope, they actually asked me right before if I had to use the bathroom. There's a post below discussing this at length.
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...

I just had mine last week (this was my 3rd u/s w/ this pregnancy) and they actually did tell me to have a slightly full bladder (but only informed me of this when I got there for the appt). So I drank a little bit of water while I waited for them to call me back but I don't think it's necessary. The tech told me it could help her with a few of the measurements she needed but that if I was too full she was going to need me to use the restroom anyway. So I don't think you need to over do it.

The generic slip my MW gave me before I scheduled said to drink 20oz of water beforehand, and then not pee. When I called the radiologist for the appt, they told me to drink 32oz and not pee.
I think this may be my first PG-related pantswetting incident in the making, lol.
This is what mine says. I just pulled it up online under my appt date and time.
Needs to drink 32 oz. of water 1.5 hours prior to appointment. All water must be drunk within the first half hour. Do not void after drinking.
Do you have a way online to check what days your appts are, what lab tests said things like that. I have a site my doctors office has me go to and it states what I need to do if anything before every appt.
I was 19 weeks 3 days for my anatomy scan. They did not tell me to have a full bladder. In fact, during the scan she told me to get up and go pee! I take and drink water anywhere I go anymore so... it is inevitable!
Mine was very specific, the u/s is at 3:00, 2 hours before I'm supposed to empty my bladder and then by 2:00pm I need to drink 12-24 ounces of water. Last time I had an u/s it was the same deal except I had to drink 32 ounces of water and it was totally unbearable. Luckily half way through the u/s tech let me use the bathroom
I was told to drink 20 ounces of water an hour before the ultrasound appt. It was hard at 12 weeks and it's gonna be near unbearable this week, I'm sure (my bladder seems to be the size of an olive right now). They do let you pee halfway through, though.
I only read a few of the responses, but my directions were the opposite.
I was given written directions to drink 30 oz (I think.. the paper is at home) of water and to have it finished I believe 1 & 1/2 hour prior to the appointment.
I just called the place I go to tomorrow and they said drink about 32 oz of water (that's THREE water bottles), but just feel like your bladder is full. I just keep thinking please lord jesus don't let me be in too much agony.
Yes, they made me have a full bladder. The fun part was, I had to wait over an hour for the on-call OB before I had it, so I was about to p!ss myself.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

They told me to drink 16 oz an hour and a half prior to the appt, and of course, I got thirsty and drank more. Halfway through the u/s she had me go void 'halfway' so she could see better and I would still have enough for a sample after. THAT was rough; trying to purposefully stop in the middle of a full-on hard pee!

Thanks. I totally missed that post. Oops.

I was told to have two glasses of water two hours before, and to not pee in that time.
However, when I got there, she started the u/s, said I was way too full, and had me empty my bladder.
I would call. All places have different policies.
