1st Trimester

vent

Just told the rest of our family today the fun news that we're going to have a 3rd. .  (we already have 2 boys) While it's so fun to share the news, if I hear ONE MORE COMMENT along the lines of "ohhh hopefully you have a girl this time!" or "I hope you have a girl!" or "maybe you'll finally get a girl!" or any of a million other comments like that, I'm going to explode.  It might even be the next innocent person just trying to make conversation that I unleash on.

I understand the difference between people bringing it up in a conversational way, kind of like talking about the weather.. but there are so many others that talk in a negative tone and seem to want to bring me and my husband down and make me feel defensive about the 2 awesome boys that I already have and a possible 3rd on the horizon.  My response is always, "we want a boy and girl equally, we'll welcome any baby that god blesses us with"  that usually seems to shut them up.

Anyone else dealing with this?  I would love 3 boys or 2 boys and girl.. I don't care as long as it's healthy!  ugh people!!!  I wish I was more like DH, and just let comments roll off my back and not give a crap what people say and think.

sorry so long, thanks for listening!

  • Just say back that all we care about is that it's healthy and not what is or isn't between it's legs.

  • I only have one DD but I am already hearing that comment... oh, I sure hope its a boy for you guys.  Really?  Who the hell says that?  I will be thrilled either way, and am actually kinda hoping for a girl so DD will have a sister (I never did), but I also want her to have a brother.  I actually did get a little snappy with my Mom when she made a comment like that, I said, yeah we're probably gonna put it up for adoption if its a girl.  It shut her up.
  • i've been getting the "girl" comments since i already have a son.  i just tell them "we're actually hoping for another boy."  it shuts 'em up pretty quickly.

of course all we want is a healthy baby, blah, blah, blah...but let's face it, we're fully prepped for a boy in our house!  a girl would mean having to purchase more to be ready!

  • lol we haven't told many people yet but i know I will get those kinds of comments too.

My mom recently gave me a box full of my baby things and in it is a card from my grandparents from when I was born and it said "We knew you wouldn't let us down! Finally a girl!" Really who writes that on a card?

  • I'm glad I'm not alone!

While I would of course welcome a girl and it would be fun to mix things up around here, We are more than ready for another boy.. clothes, toys, gear, etc.  It would be super easy!

When we told my MIL, her response was "oh my god, can you imagine if you had 3 boys?" and not in a positive tone.  I said, YEAH! that would be SOOO fun!!! all super positive.. and my SIL, bless her, she replies, Yes! that would be!!

  • Haha, I have two older brothers.  When I was born my dad thought it would be funny to call up my moms mom and tell her "its a boy!"  She hung the phone up on him.  hehehe  she really wanted a granddaughter.  Needless to say I was her favorite  :D
