IVF cost? **siggy warning**

I'm so sorry for posting here, but I didn't know who else to ask. Google does not seem to be my friend with this topic.

Here's my situation...DD has a terminal illness and DH and I are looking at doing IVF for preimplantation genetic diagnosing in order to keep from this happening again. I have learned that the PGD will be 3-5K on top of the cost for IVF. But I'm having a hard time finding out what IVF usually costs. I have found numbers all over the board and I don't know what to expect. Also, if I'm quoted, say, 15K for IVF...what does that cover? Are all meds and procedures included? I'm trying to get an idea so we can start saving for a few years down the road.

    Let me start out by saying that I am so sorry for your DDs illness. Sometimes life just isn't fair.

    IVF will depend on if you have any insurance coverage. I don't have any, in the brochure for my RE, it says IVF fresh cycle is $10,000 plus about another $2,000-$3,000 for meds.

    My RE packet says IVF, including ER/ET, cost around $9K and meds are $4K-$5K. There are also costs for freezing as we'll, if you go that route.

    I am so very sorry you are going through this.  Hugs to you.

    We were 'quoted' $10,000 plus meds $2000.  Actual costs ran about $14,000, if you are also OOP I would bank about $15000 and then you will thrilled if you do not need it all.  Our $14000 covered meds, blood work, u/s, the actual IVF procudure, basically everything AFTER the diagnosis phase.

    Hey there.  I think I remember you from GP.  I'm sorry you're dealing with this.  IVF prices vary *widely* so the best thing to do is call up your local clinics and ask how much and what all it covers.

    My meds are running around $3K.  Not sure on the actual IVF yet, but we are assuming close to 10K.

    PGD is NOT included in our IVF.  ICSI and AH are, but not PGD.

    I am so sorry you have to think of this and so very sorry your for you and your DD.

    I'm so sorry about your poor DD :(  How heartbreaking.

    Let's assume you don't have any IF coverage.  An IVF cycle is between $10K and $15K.  That will cover all your b/w, u/s, ER and ET procedures.  The drugs are another $3K - $5K and then as you said PGD is $3K - $5K.  So all told somewhere between $15K and $25K.  Check with your insurance carrier.  I thought I had no coverage at all but it ended up that all my meds are covered.  And if not, there is a med donation program both on this board and on IF where you might be able to get at least some of your meds.

    First, I am so sorry about your DD.  That is heartbreaking.  I am sending T&Ps your way. 

    I agree with Sulfa.  While we can give you somewhat of an estimate, what clinics actually charge and what they include in an IVF cycle varies greatly.  But at a baseline Gym's numbers sound pretty good. 

    My clinic does not include anesthesia, freezing, storage, meds, AH, bloodwork or u/s for PG (they do include u/s for cycle purposes) in my IVF package.  I know this varies, but it is something you should check. 

    Also, PGD will depend on what is being tested.  Since my Dx is DOR, my RE offered it to us as an option.  So, I have a price list for many of the tests Reprogenetics performs.  But, in addition to the charges from Reprogenetics (which are $1,600 to $4,500+) my embryology lab charges around $1,500 per cycle to prepare the embies for PGD.

    ~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~ 

    Me= 37 and DH = 41 

    Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)

    IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN

    IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.

    IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132.  Lil is here!

    TTC#2:  Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.

    IVF #4:  BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #5:  MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #6:  (New RE):  Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN

    FET#1:  BFN
