Prefolds- switched to big size, leaky and bulky- Help!
Just switched up to Osocozy larger sized prefolds. I got the small ones from a friend so didn't have to prep them. LO has been having blowouts (I have just been folding the prefold and setting it in the cover b/c she's too big to wrap them) so I decided to buy the big size and switch up.
I used one for the first time today, after washing/ drying 3 times like it said to do.. But after an hour nap she woke up completely wet- she had leaked all over her clothes! Also, all the folds seem really bulky! She's getting really frustrated b/c she can't move well with all this bulk (she's almost crawling- scoots forward on the floor).
Also, I can't get the snappi on easily and I feel like I'm making her uncomfortable because it is too tight. Advice? I'm new to CDing and getting ready to throw in the towel...

Have you googled folds? I believe there are good options on www.theecofriendlyfamily.blogspot.com too. They do take a bit of practice to get the fold down that works for you, but IMO it's well worth it! What worked best for us was the angel fold and then we rolled in the pf around DS's legs to make it a bit snugger w/o having to get it too tight.
That said - I bet they do need a few more washes and drying sessions. I'd have said 6-8, to be honest.
If they're a bit large on her, you can fold down the back or front to get rid of the extra bulk. PFs or any CD will be a bit bulkier than disposables, but they've never caused an issue with DS.
Are the teeth guards off the snappi? They usually are and generally come that way. I don't know what advice to give on that - so much easier to show than talk about! Just make sure it catches the fabric - stretch it out a bit farther and then bring it in to hook the fabric.
Oh wow I bet that's the problem... I had posted a while ago asking how many times people wash their PFs to prep but didn't get any replies so just followed the instructions on the box (it says 2-3 times in a regular wash/ dry cycle!)... I'll try washing it a few more times and see if that helps.
About the folds.. I went on the EFF blog to figure out how to do the different folds, but I must be either doing something wrong or just folding it too much/ in the wrong spots. It is so frustrating because I don't know anyone who CDs so have no frame of reference. I think I'm going to stick with the small PFs until the larger ones are prepped and then maybe take a couple in to the store and see if they can help me!
