I have an appointment scheduled for next week to get an IUD. My doctor had nothing but good words to say about Mirena and she said she puts many of them in a week.
I'm leaning towards getting the Mirena based on my doctor's recommendations, but I'm just looking for advice/experiences.
Thanks!
Re: Any Mirena experiences?
I had Mirena for 2 years and loved it. Insertion wasn't too painful - I took 2 extra strength tylenols before my appointment and felt a little discomfort but nothing too bad. Removal was a breeze - I barely knew that she had finished my exam and started the removal.
I didn't experience any side effects but I have read that some women don't have wonderful experiences with Mirena. I would definitely recommend it to someone and will most likely get it again after we have another child.
Insertion wasn't bad. But I had annoying cramps for about 6 weeks. Both my sister's had the same thing and had theirs removed after a few weeks. I stuck it out and they eventually went away and now I've had it for a year and am sooooo glad I have it.
My friend said her removal was quite painful, but I still have mine in!
I had Mirena and actually just recently had it removed!
It didn't hurt at all going in.. just a little cramping. While it was in I didn't really have any problems with it at all. I just had spotting on & off which got kind of annoying after awhile lol! When it came out I didn't think it was going to be so painful.. but it was for me! I had horrible cramping & pain while the doctor was taking it out & after it was out I stood up to get dressed & ended up passing out on the floor of the exam room. I never expected that to happen!! Not sure what caused that.. maybe because of all the cramping.. but either way I hated when it came out!!
