Baby Names

WDYT of this boy name?

We had been entertaining the idea of Luca if baby is a boy. DH is totally sold on it, I am not since our very Italian last name starts with Lu as well, still not off the table though.

However, over the last few days, I have fallen in love with the name Adrian. WDYT of the name? MN would be either Scott, Douglas (after my dad) or Giuliano (after DH).

Which do you like better? Do either names not suit a child or adult? Are they strong names? Any other thoughts?

Re: WDYT of this boy name?

  • I don't think of Luca and Adrian as strong, masculine names - Luca because of the feminine sounding ending and Adrian because it is spoken almost identically to the the female version of the name, Adrienne. I would choose Luca of the two.

  • Ooooh, I love Luca!  It is very masculine and strong.   I like Douglas for a MN.  Luca Scott sounds like a soap opera name.  Giuliano sounds nice too- especially it would be after his dad!

I like Adrian, but only if he is a big, strong, tough jock like boy/guy.  If he is a skinny little boy/guy Adrian could be a little nerdy sounding, IMO.

  • Would you ever concider Andre?  It is similiar to Adrian, but a bit more masculine.
  • I actually really LOVE Luca. :) And I don't think the last name thing is a problem. I like Luca Giuliano. :)

  • I really like both names a lot. I like Luca if you want the first name to have an Italian sound to it. Depending on exactly what your last name is, maybe Adrian would mix it up a little better. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

  • i did an afterschool theatre program with children, and one of the student's name was Lucah. He was such a whimpy, whiney, brat- i think i will permenantly stay away from this name for that bad experience...

    sorry

Yes, look at the spelling of his name and that would explain it!

Luca is a great masculine name and I love it with Guiliano

Do not like Adrian at all.
