Possible OHSS

I am showing signs of possible OHSS. My nurse told me to keep an eye on it and if the stomach pain and shortness of breath wasn't gone by tomorrow they will bring me in for u/s Friday

Have any of you had OHSS before? My stomach is very sore and tender from my belly button up and to the sides. What can they do to make it go away?

ETA: I am overly bloated too all over my stomach. I had IUI Monday.

I did with my IVF cycle. Make sure you drink a lot of gatorade-type beverages, the salt helps pull the fluid away from your ovaries. I also ate/drank a lot of salt (I chugged a lot of V8). Keep an eye on your weight - dramatic weight gain is an indication that it's dangerous. If it gets dangerous before Friday, or Friday shows a concerning amount of fluid, they will drain you.

Good luck. It's awful. Please take the steps to try to keep the fluid down and take care of yourself.

Thanks Jill. I have some gatorade in the fridge now. I am not so much bloated around my ovaries as much as right at my belly button. The nurse told me to measure my waist at my belly button to see if it grows. You're right this is awful! Walking hurts it, hitting bumps in the road hurts it and I am really not that hungry because this pit in my stomach. Ugh.

Did you ever have to be drained? How does that work?

Yikes, good luck! I hope you start feeling better soon. Your post kind of freaked me out a bit because all day today I've been feeling not "pain" but just tightness maybe (don't know how to describe it) in the areas around where my ovaries are and even a bit higher (like up to belly button height). I hadn't thought too much about it and then I read your post and now I'm analyzing every single feeling I'm having in that area!! Even just sitting here right now I feel it. I haven't had any other symptoms though so hopefully it's nothing and hopefully your symptoms go away!

Do you happen to know when it's most common to get OHSS during the LP? (Closer to when ovulation has happened, in the middle, end?) Just curious.

I would just watch it and if you are still feeling pain in a few days call the RE. Sorry to freak you out!

I read online it normally happens right after ovulation or within a few days.

Thanks! I seem to be feeling a little better today. Glad it is not getting worse. The pain was at it's peak last night, so I will see how I feel as the day progresses.
