1st Trimester

A shallow good thing about being high risk

And I only say that because I'm only risk because of PIH, and only mildly at that.  But....I get to have my big u/s at the maternal fetal medical center, and they'll do the big u/s starting at 18 weeks, and my OB won't do them until 20.  So, there's a chance I could get in sooner.  Silly, I know, but I just can't freakin' wait.  Both to find out AND to see this little nugget.

  • Woot!

    i can't get over it- I can't believe you're almost 2nd tri already

  • I was just telling a friend basically the same thing today, that being high risk I'm having u/s every other week at least maybe we will find out earlier what we are having. Of course life would be so much better just to have a regular pregnancy :)
  • I totally agree str8ota.  But I've done this song and dance once already, so it's really all I know.  I'm looking for the positives where I can find them!
  • I am going to admit, I sadly enjoyed a tiny bit the fact that I had a low-lying placenta the last pregnancy.  They were 95% sure it would resolve itself and I still got 3 extra ultrasounds during my pregnancy.  Luckily everything was fine....

  • Sorry to burst your bubble, but I am no where near high risk (in fact my OB said that my pg is going as perfectly as it can go) and my OB routinely does the Big US at maternal-fetal medicine at anywhere between 18 to 20 weeks and I have mine scheduled at 18 weeks also.  Again, sorry but I am happy for you that you get to get it at 18 weeks also instead of waiting the full 20 weeks if you were to go to your OB.

  • SoTouchy, has it been easier with your 2nd pregnancy now that you know what to expect? It goes through my head all the time wondering if my 2nd one will be easier since I have a better idea.
  • Excellent way to look at it!
  • psuash, why do you think you're bursting my bubble?  Yes, lots of people have their big u/s earlier than 20 weeks, but they won't schedule them that early if I have it done at my OB's office.  I'm getting a level 2, which they don't do for a normal pregnancy.  I'm happy you can go in earlier, but I'm greatful I have a chance to finally see my baby and a little earlier.  It's harder this time, because I'd seen DD 3 times by this point in my last pregnancy.

  • Oh I didn't realize you hadn't seen at all....
