I am just a few days shy of being 8weeks pregnant (by my own calculations, hopefully I'm right!) and ever since my 5th week, I've been a little pudgier than usual. At first most of it was bloat that came and went, grew and disappeared. But now it's big, firm, and here to stay. What gives? This is my first pregnancy and I have a some-what small frame but have always had a little pooch that I refered to as my "food baby". I've had many coworkers already rub my bump and say hello to the bearly developed baby and a lot of the parents at my daycare questioning my pregnancy. One mom even swear it's twins... gulp! I've been eating fairly healthy even though I haven't been eating very much at all these past few days, trying not to overindulge and use the "I'm eating for two" excuse (even though I have been tempted to!).
Any other first time mommy feeling larger than expected? I hope this isn't a sign of whats to come (even though I'm sure it is!).

Re: Any one else showing really early?
Yikes! I mean, that would be exciting and I sure do love 2-for-1 deals, but it's not exactly what I was planning when I said "Lets have a baby." haha.
Luckily I go in for my first u/s this upcoming Monday. Fingers crossed everything goes well! Thanks for the advice
I'll keep y'all updated

I am small-framed and already very bloated. I have to "suck in" the bloat because we're not telling people we're pregnant yet. It's uncomfortable having to suck it in!
I know it's not the baby, and won't be for a while. : ( I can't believe I'm gaining weight already.
I am small-framed and have a bloat baby right now at five weeks. It is noticeable to me because I don't normally bloat much. I can also tell I'm already holding onto fat a bit more in my hips (I read that when you get pregnant your body essentially starts to operate as if you're borderline diabetic).
I didn't have a bloat baby at this point in my first pg, which ended in week 7. I'm thinking maybe now I'm poofing out a little more since my body has visited this stage before?
I'm with you! I'm 8 weeks and this is my first. Honestly, the bloating has been insane. I've tried different foods and being active but it's still there! It hasn't gone away since we first found out about 3 weeks ago. I am also petite and let's just say I had a little pooch but not noticeable to most people. This bloating is very noticeable and I LOOK pregnant. We aren't telling people yet either so it's tricky finding a good tank or shirt in my wardrobe to mask the belly!
I know the baby is tiny and this bulge isn't the baby according to all the books and some women...but I can't help but think or wonder... Anyway, it's interesting how we are so different and how our bodies react to life changes. I've questions twins myself too... I guess time will tell!
Thank you ladies for all the 411 and advice. I know I'm super early to be looking (and feeling) as big as I am. Special thanks to the ladies agreeing with me - I'm happy I'm not alone (and I don't feel so crazy anymore!). I do understand a lot of it is bloat, but the way my lower ab's feel is making me believe otherwise.
I'm not exactly telling people either. My job knows because they were making bets on when my husband and I were going to concieve and almost 80% of them were right haha. Besides I work at a daycare with very supporting co-workers and management so I was thrilled to tell them. I am so lucky to have such great gals like them
As for the twins - Twins do run in my husband side of the family. It seems to always "skip" a generation so if the twin genes were true (because they are not. His family has identical twins, not fraternal so that does no good for me and my ovulations) then we would just be adding to the family legdend. I would be shocked to be having twins, but ultimately happy. A mother at my daycare who has twins swears she looked just like me when she found out she was having twins.
No matter what, I'm thrilled to be pregnant. Bloat or no bloat. Thanks again ladies and best of luck to you!
