So,I'm 31 weeks and I think the baby is head down or moving into transition. Does that mean that I'll be having the baby soon? And how will I know when the baby drops?
No, mine has been head down for the last 6 weeks (I'm 32 weeks). You will likely feel heavier or more pressure as your LO drops but that can also happen way before delivery. If you are concerned ask your doctor. I'm sure they can give you more specifics.
Transition is a phase of delivery that happens right before delivery. It is the shortest and often most painful part of labor. 99% chance you aren't in transition.
I dropped a couple of weeks ago, and doctor says she is head down. Regardless, my doc says I'll probably have the baby close to the 40 week point. You are probably ok!
If your you think your baby dropped, bring it up to your practitioner at your next appointment. Have her or him check. For a normal pregnancy, this can mean a few different things, and can be very normal.
Here's my experience; remember, I have been a high risk since week 20 with bleeding, week 23 since my cervix states to shorten. I dropped at 31w 3d. I am now 32w1d, 3 cm dilated, 75% effaced, baby's at station -2, 2nd day on bedreast at the hospital. Had contractions, was in early labor starting to go into active labor, but it was stopped with fluids and magnesium, now is managed with procardia (Rx). I am still contracting every 10 minutes, but they are very mild and only the tocometer picks them up since I don't feel them. I wasn't feeling any Braxton Hicks or contractions until I was in active labor, and then it was just a tightening with very mild cramping and backache. I could have a high pain threshold, or just be immune to any sensation in my uterus since my baby has been an extremely active child since week 16.
