Dr's are driving us nuts!!!!

So i spent almost 5 hours at the dr. yesterday with dh and we almost lost our minds. they keep telling us how small the babies are and how they were trying to figure out why. they said one of my arteries to my uterus isn't pumping enough or something like that. It just feels like they tell us a ton of terrible stuff and then tell us how great the babies look. Can you ladies tell me what size your twins were at 20 weeks? My id girls are 9 oz and 12 oz.

Re: Dr's are driving us nuts!!!!

  • I don't remember how exactly how much they weighed at 20 weeks but I think it was 11 or 12 oz.  They were born at 25w5d and weighed 1lb 13oz each.  The Dr's said that was big for their gestation.  The Dr's are probably just trying to be cautious.  The babies may look good now but they just want to monitor them so that if anything starts to happen they can catch it quickly.  Hang in there and I hope your babies cook for many more weeks.

  • both of my guys were 12oz. as of Friday (20 weeks). the u/s tech said those were a great size for 20 weeks. Sounds like your Dr. has no idea what they are talking about.
  • ok that made me feel a lot better!!! it's so hard because its the dr. at the ultrasound place not my regular dr. they never tell me what they should be they only tell me how small they are!!
  • I was getting that from the High Risk Doctor at my u/s at 16w & 20w.  He never told me ounces of the babies just mentioned they were on the small side.  He ended up reclarifying because I freaked out a little bit at the office because I was worried.  He said they were measuring right on target but he preferred for twins to be a tiny bit bigger because they are usually premature.  When I saw my OB he said everything looked healthy and for me not to worry.  You should follow-up with your OB.

  • My girls were 10oz each at 19 weeks.

It sounds like they are both a fine size, but the doctor might just be looking at the 3oz difference and want to watch it to make sure that there isn't any problem that is causing the difference.

  • How frustrating!  Our little ones were 14 oz each at our 20 week u/s and then 1 lb 10 oz each at the 25 week growth scan.
