I adopted a female marine. I have tons of freebies and samples that I get with coupons so I would love to share the wealth and support the military. My question is should I send powder or liquid laundry soap? And any other recomendations would be great thanks!
Re: question about sending a care package..
Thank you for wanting to adopt a service member. Is there any way to contact "your" Marine and ask her what she needs? Most Marines have access to e-mail, at least some of the time.
I would think feminine hygiene products would be needed, but again, many bases have an exchange and things like that aren't so hard to find. Again, if you could ask it would be helpful.
You could send both liquid and powder detergent, if your Marine doesn't need it she will trade it with someone else. When our son was in Iraq (2007) what he wanted were snacks that he could share with his entire unit. So we mostly sent snack packs from Costco, like multiple small packages of cookies, crackers, nuts. He would give them all away, but that's what he wanted so that's what we sent.
I agree with the above posts also. When my hubby was deployed last year his favorites were jerky, cookies, crackers, any snack items & playing cards. Also, they are almost constantly in their boots or PT shoes so the gel shoe inserts are good things too.
For my husbands birthday I made cakes in a jar and sent those. I ended up sending the cakes and a few tubs of frosting and sprinkles and plates and forks. I sent it like a birthday party in a box. It helped him feel special from around the world.
Just a couple ideas. I truly think anything that makes them feel some love from home helps!
