Success after IF

question re: fluid vs discharge (possibly tmi)

I'm constantly worried that I'm leaking fluid...my discharge this pregnancy has always been VERY thin and pretty much clear.  I know it increases as pregnancy goes on...but did anyone here have thin clear wateryish discharge as well?  I went in about a week ago and was told it was just urine ( but it doesn't seem to be coming from there....)  It does keep me damp but isn't enough to drip out when i'm sitting on the toilet or anything

  • Sounds totally normal! I have that too... sometimes It causes me to stop to check!

  • whew how do you know if its urine, pee, or regular just very thin discharge?  i know they say by smell but honestly I can't tell....everything smells to me lol.  So far his fluid levels have checked out good at each ultrasound which is good...so i know he's got fluid in there (and he's hiccuping so i assume that means he has some to swallow)   but i'm just worried about the chances of infection....thats why i haven't even been swimming, though it sounds lovely

  • I am assuming it is just discharge. I know that you can have a leak, but when my water broke, it was VERY evident that was what it was. Are you having apts every week? If so, you could ask them to test it each time just to ease your fears. It is so hard to accept, but you have to know you are doing the best you can.

Odds are extremely favorable that you will have a very happy, healthy take-home baby.. numbers are in your favor for this!

  • Yeah I still am seeing him every week....I feel silly being so concerned about this....and know that the odds of premature rupture like that are so small....and then that it would be such a slow leak....i just wish i could enjoy this being pregnant thing...but i think i'm too much of a control freak and worry wart to let that happen lol

  • I wish I had answers for you as well! I'm going to the dr. today and asking the same thing. It's so gross I can't tell if it's pee/sweat/discharge for the most part. I don't leak all day sometimes I think it's just the pressure on my bladder but of course I think the worst and think I'm leaking other fluid.  I figure if I was really leaking I'd be damp all day and I don't think I am. I always wear a pantyliner just in case.

  • I had lots of discharge especially in late pregnancy. It seemed worse on bedrest (maybe because I had more time to obsess over it. LOL!) I had to wear a light days pad to keep my underwear from being wet all the time.

  • Sounds normal, but I know there are strips you can use to test for the presence of amniotic fluid...you could probably buy online, or you could try asking your OB for some. Just to give you some peace of mind. FWIW, I had pPROM and the force of my water breaking was enough to wake me up from a sound sleep.
