I do not think "Spanish" when I hear the name Nadia -- isn't it Russian? I love the name, BTW ...
I never said it was Spanish. I just pointed out what Spanish speakers would think in case the OP lives in a Spanish-speaking area. The association with "nobody" is a comment a friend of mine named Nadia gets all the time in NYC.

I know a Puerto Rican girl named Nadia, so I wouldn't think it's a problem.

Re: Ok, since Dania isn't a hit, what about...
Sounds kind of similar to "nadie," which means "nobody."

I knew a Nadia - a woman - and she came from Czechoslovakia - I know it's no longer Czechoslovakia, but I don't want to do any Googling.

Not in my opinion. Too much "ia".

I always thought the sound difference was "nah-dee-uh" and "nah-dee-A"
Seriously, name your kid whatever you love. Nadia is a beautiful name.
Yes the "a" makes it go together nicely.
Me too! And I think Sophia and Nadia sound lovely together.
I definitely like Nadia better than Dania!
And the reason it DOES go with Sophia is b/c the emphasis is on a different syllable.
