need advice from britax users, esp marathon

We just got and installed our marathon, and I have a couple concerns:

1. I can't get the straps tight enough.

2. It seems like within a week or 2 J is going to figure out how to unlatch the crotch buckle. Yikes!

 Did anyone have either of these problems? I'm thinking about returning it - who cares about the safety rating if I can't get him properly strapped in.

    Are you using the latch system to install it?  I always put my knee in the seat and put all my weight in it and pull the latch straps tight.  Otherwise it may not be installed properly and you should go get help with installing it.

    Cruz is 3 and still can't get that crotch button undone, he gets into LOTS of things(including those childproof doorknobs) and that one he can't do.

    Hmm are they right at his shoulders?  I've never had that problem with mine.

    I have the opposite problem! It is a PITA to get the button undone in Cams and the straps always seem to cut into her neck... I have considered returning mine too! GGrrrr, hope it works out for you!

    DH usually adjusts our seat, but he usually pulls on a stap that's at the front base of the seat that he pulls to tighten the shoulder straps.  For the most part we've been really happy with our Marathon - the shoulder straps do tend to get coiled around though, and I wish we could extend the center buckle between the legs to make it longer, sometimes it digs into M's little chubby thighs.
