Maternity Clothes?

I am new to Miami, we moved to Key Biscayne last fall. Just started a new job and found out we're expecting in January.  Needless to say I'm feeling out of my element.

I need professional maternity clothes for work.  Does anyone know of any consignment or second hand stores that have maternity clothes?

Re: Maternity Clothes?

  • Welcome to South Florida!

I'm 30 weeks along and still haven't found a good store.  I mostly shop in the regular women's section and just look  for things that will accommodate a growing belly.  Forever21 has a few pieces online that have been a lifesaver.  There is a Motherhood Maternity outlet in Dolphin Mall and the Burlington Coat Factory next door has a small maternity section.  But, I've only bought a few items from both stores.

  • Hi and welcome!! I second Motherhood Maternity since this was the only store where I was able to find pants for work that fit me. Blouses/shirts I would go with regular women's section if you can and I have found a few nice blouses at Kohl's. Good luck!

  • Try Dadeland Mall, there's a Motherhood right next to JCPenney and JCP also has decent work clothes that aren't too expensive. Also, Ann Taylor Loft doesn't have maternity in the store but I've bought pants there that have a regular front but are sectioned with elastic which work great for maternity.

  • I went to Motherhood in Dolphin Mall and got a couple of tops. For the pants I went to the Goodwill store located on Sunset and 117th and got 2 pairs of black pants, khaki and brown and larger shirts that would fit me all the way to the end of the pregnancy. I would alternate the tops with the pants and I also bought a couple of dresses that worked great all the way to the end. I didn't want to buy too much pregnancy cloths b/c I wasn't going to be pregnant for my entire life. You should also check out Target, they carry a great selection of maternity cloths, or you can buy regular cloths just a size or 2 bigger.
  • Gap and Motherhood sizing runs a little large, which is perfect as you grow, at least that was my exprience.  I bought the same size I was wearing pre-pg.

However, for pants at Target (Liz Lang), those run a bit smaller IMO.  I had lost a pair of pants a couple mo ago, so went to Target to replace them... those pants no longer fit, but the others do!

I'm w/ the other ladies... dresses are awesome!  I still fit into a few pre-pg sundresses, one of which is perfect for work.  I've bought 2 pg dresses - one specifically for work, and the other for work and play.  Maybe if you get a couple of dresses and pair them w/ a blazer (check Marshalls / TJMaxx for larger size - cheaper) you'll get your "suit."

Here's some "wear to work" from Target.  I remember seeing once maternity suits at Target that were very cute and looked like good quality, but haven't seen any at the store lately (may be seasonal), but check online. GL

  • It may be a little far for you but there is a great maternity consignment shop in Fort Lauderdale. It is called Expecting You Maternity Consignment Boutique.
