Re: "Healthy" chicken nuggets?

  • One of my neighbors just told me about tofu nuggets which taste exactly like chicken nuggets.  I'm not a big fan of tofu at all, but tried one and they were delicious.  I think she found them at Giant.

I've also tried Boca Burger's "chicken patties" which are delicious and healthy.

  • coat small pieces of chicken with egg, then with bread crumbs (I like Italian), bake 350 until done (about 20 minutes, depending on the size of your nuggets.)   Yummy.
  • We get a brand called Alexia's - no preservatives, white meat, panko crusted, and I get the ones filled with broccoli and cheese (only way DS will eat broccoli). . He gets those or Trader Joes nuggets (either the chicken or the soy). For chicken nuggets, they are decent for you.

  • I buy all white meat frozen chicken strips but making and baking them yourself is better.
  • I've heard "Morning Star" brand are good.

We do the same thing at out house somethimes we dip them in an avacado dip YUMMY!

  • We do Morning Star or Boca chic nuggets. Miles only eats veg nuggets. DD would eat anything in front of her!

We also do the veggie corn dogs and hot dogs. They don't know any different!

  • You could try making your own, though my oldest will have none of that!  I tried making them once Jessica Seinfeld way and hid veggie puree in there, he caught on and refused to eat any nuggets I made after that! I buy some morning star vegetarian nuggets.  Both my kids will eat them and they have vegetable protein.  May not be the healthiest thing, but I figure they are a step up from other grocery store types.
