It should just pass on its own in a few weeks after DC is born..if it doesn't, you really should talk to your doctor. I didn't have any issues immediately after DS was born but had some problems with PPD more recently (like 3 months pp and later).
Mine hit around 1.5-2 wks post partum. I cried when DH would get home, so dramatically! I cried because I was crying. I cried because I missed our 'old life', then felt bad for crying because I had this beautiful baby, so I cried some more!!! It slowly subsided over a few weeks. It was the pits, but it truly FELT hormonal... so I knew in my gut it would go away as my hormones regulated. BUT, if it did not, I wouldn't have hesitated to seek help. GL!
I had the baby blues from the time ds was born until he was about two weeks old. I cried no less than 20 times per day about everything and about nothing. One day around two weeks I noticed I was magically crying less (and freaking out less) and things just got better from there. If things linger much longer than 3 weeks, I would talk to your doctor.

I also cried from 2 days pp until about 4 weeks pp, but after the first 2 wks it deffinatly got less and less. ?There really was nothing that made it better or worse. ?If you are worried, call your MD, that's what they are there for.
Mini me DD 4/17/08
BFP 12/27/10 m/c @ 8 wks, d&c 2/3/11
BFP 7/6/11 EDD 3/17/12 DS born 3/8/12
I had it from 2 days postpartum and was actually treated for PPD after it wouldn't go away after 8 weeks. My OB said most people only have the "baby blues" for up to 3 wks postpartum.
DS was dealing with some medical issues and I think that I was so stressed out about them and felt like I was causing them, that I just couldn't shake the blues and it began to affect me in that I was starting to not want to take care of him.
Mine peaked at 3 months. I went to the doctor and with NO QUESTIONS asked he just handed me a prescription. After a month on those pills for PPD I still was not getting even an ounce better. I went to my regular doctor and she ran some labs. My thyroid was VERY overactive (70%). I've had the radioactive iodine treatment (needs to be 20% to be eligible) and now I feel 100% better.
I'm not saying this is the answer for everyone, but PPD meds isn't either.
I'm past the baby blues, of course she isn't really a baby anymore. For 2-3 months I was annoyed with everyone. His parents, dh, my parents, my sisters, my friends. Everything irritated me and I would get in the shower and sit down and sob.?
It just slowly got better and I began to feel more myself. Sleep helps, crying helps, taking a long hot bath helps but time helps the most. If you are worried at all, talk to your dr. GL?
It took about 3 weeks for it to completely go away. It was much better by 2 weeks but not completely gone. It didn't help that I was going through it in the middle of winter and couldn't get out and enjoy any sunshine. It gets better! Hang in there. If you feel like it's just too much, definitely talk to your doctor. It is nothing to be ashamed of! There are so many hormones rushing through your body right now!
It was horrible for me. HORRIBLE but yes I'm over it now. My case might be extreme but it took until Katen was about 6 mos old to get it together. I had a very high maintenance baby though and like you, I had all of those emotions flooding from T-ttc also. Having a baby in the middle of the winter was not great either.
What finally helped was getting out. Anywhere. Even if it was the grocery store. Now I know that I need to plan an outing every day.
Tme heals a lot of things too.
HUGS!!!!!
