not sp related! --Desk job, help!

I had been doing good up until the last 3 weeks or so. Now, all I want to do is snack, snack, snack! It's horrilbe!

I usually do good up until after I eat dinner. Then I want something sweet, I either end up using the stupid vending machines, or walking to the $ tree.

Does anyone have any 'keep me busy' type things that they do? Any snacks they recommend for the sweet fix?

I've heard many people say they have put on 10+lbs since working there. That can NOT be me!

  • I've gained weight with my last two jobs sitting around and eating crap. I pop some hard candy in my mouth, eat ice/drink water. I also like to eat green grapes when I want sweets. Tasty & much better for me.

  • I eat sliced apples at work.  I could go through a bag in a couple of days when I was pregnant.  They are sweet and crunchy, so that helped my cravings.  I would suggest brushing your teeth after eating lunch too, because that seems to help me not want to eat.  Kinda weird, but it works.

  • You could always leave all your money in the car so it isn't super easy to go buy something. . .
  • I drink lots and lots of water during the day. I also bring all of my food with me for the day and just make sure that I am eating something every 2 hrs or so.

Like today, I had sauteed veggies and sliced potatoes for breakfast, will have a peach for a morning snack, I have avocado, steamed broccoli and cauliflower and black beans for lunch and then some cashews for when the afternoon snack craving hits. It's just enough to keep me full throughout the day and I don't go hitting up the vending machines. Also, make sure that you get up and walk around once an hour for a few minutes, it's not good to stay sitting at a desk for too long if you can avoid it.

  • I drink lots of water throughout the day.  If you get bored with that, you can try putting lemon juice in it or getting the sugar free mix type things you can mix in a water bottle to change things up.  Drinking a lot of water will help to curb your appetite.  For snacks, fruit is a good alternative when you want something sweet or I like fiber one granola bars.

  • Ditto the water.  Try to eat six small meals versus three meals so then your blood sugar won't drop.  For the afternoon craving I would eat something like raw almonds which have a little natural sugar, but mostly protein.  Or an apple with natural peanut butter.  It sounds weird, but if you can resist that sugar craving for a few days, you won't want it anymore.  I promise.  Because you are feeding it, you want it that much more.  After a few days, sugar won't even sound good.
