TTC After a Loss

Speaking of poop...

No, not really. But I felt like poop today, yesterday, oh and Monday. I returned to work on Monday for the first time since the loss of our twins in May. It's a new school year and I am excited to start afresh, but...

Monday I got a nasty e-mail from a parent (school hasn't even started yet!), Tuesday I was told I'd have an extra meeting after school and am not getting a pay raise, and then today, Wednesday, a consultant unexpectedly came to our staff meetings. She's expecting around the same time as I was and was very much pregnant. Thanks for the belly in my face all day. Too difficult of a reminder and I just couldn't speak to her and avoided her all day.Now tonight I feel achy "down there" and figure the PMS is starting. Boo.

Thanks. Needed to get that out on "paper." Maybe sleeping will be more enjoyable than my no-good-horrible-rotten days.

Re: Speaking of poop...

  • Sorry that sucks ((hugs)).  What do you teach?  What's up with the pay raise?  Is it a district budget thing?  I know our pay raises are delayed a month because of the budget.

Alright- I gotta be nosey... what on earth could a parent possibly find to complain about before the school year started?

I had a parent email over the summer asking me not to schedule a practice on her child's birthday....

I am a humanities middle school teacher. There was a decision to freeze salaries so they wouldn't have to fire anyone, which is nice, but stop adding to our already over-meetinged lives! I am envious that you are in NJ and probably are still enjoying your summer! I used to live in NYC and want my back to school after labor day routine!

LOL. I teach 6,7,8th grade combined, so these are parents of a student I had last year as a 6th grader, now a 7th grader. They could possibly find everything wrong with me and wrote it in a condescending, passive aggressive e-mail. They did it all last year too.  My inner therapist says they are dealing with a teenage girl who is rebelling and they don't know what to do, so let's blame the teacher. They are controlling and can't stand that their daughter tells them nothing. Not to mention, but will mention, they compare her to her brilliant brother and she just will never measure up because guess what? She's not him! Of course I can't say anything to them because I am not the one raising their children. I can however educate them on the expectations and structures implemented in our division because I happen to be an expert on middle school children. Ughh. I quit for an hour or two on Monday night, but my husband made me go back.

Sweet...I teach Social Studies (World History for Freshmen this year).  I used to teach Middle School too.  Anyother summer I would be so glad to be off till Labor day but this summer with all I have gone through I could really use the distraction of work.  I know all about the overmeetingness of it all :(   We will probably have a freeze next year, but then again I probably won't have a job anyway unless someone else quits.

Are you forwarding these emails to your supervisor?  I do that all the time and my supervisor always has my back.  Is there anyway this particular student could have a different teacher or are you the only one?

  • I'm sorry. That sucks. I feel your pain. Really, I do. I came back to a pg coworker that JUST had a baby last year.
