crazy rash in neck rolls :(

My boy has gotten chubby!!  He has many neck rolls under which he has a bad rash.  could it be yeast? I'm wondering if I should take him to the dr tomorrow.

He also suddenly has a diaper rash :(  could they be linked in any way?

Re: crazy rash in neck rolls :(

  • Our pedi said it was yeast from the moisture and said it was common until they really have good head control and are upright more.  We treated with Lotrimin but Neosporin and keeping very dry worked better.  No diaper rash with ours

  • we bathed 2 times a day and used aquafor, that helped us clear up his neck rolls!
  • we have gotten this in other rolls just not neck lol.  they said yeast too and gave us nystatin but i've also since  used CA baby calendula cream at the first sign of 'roll redness' and that works as well.

no diaper issues here either though.  good luck!!

  • My LO had yeast in her neck rolls, too.  Our pedi told us to use Lotrimin, and it cleared up very quickly.  We use Avalon corn powder to keep her neck dry.  We are having diaper area issues right, too, but it's baby eczema, not yeast.
  • DD gets that in her neck if it isn't cleaned perfectly.  I now find myself sliding my hand up there with just water when I put her in the bath tub to make sure all the neck and slobber from the day is out of there.  I don't necessarily "bathe" her with soap everyday (every other day she gets an actual bath, but the warm water soothes her at night), and that has worked wonders.  She also gets a rash on her face from her binky if I don't wipe it down at night.

DD hasn't had issues with diaper rashes, knock on wood, but if it is a bad rash, you might want to call your pedi.  GL!!!

  • Josh used to get that.  Our pedi suggested rubbing cornstarch on the areas after baths and during the day.  It worked like a charm.
  • DD used to get that, and we would put lanolin on it. So now you have lots of options for treatment, lol :)
  • I don't think they're linked but it could happen. My LO had a chubby neck roll rash. I was just careful to clean it well with soap and dry it completely. I used a towel put him in front of the fan with his neck rolls up. When it got bad I used some Burts Bees diaper ointment. It went away and hasn't been back.
