I'm getting a breathable bumper for our crib. The only thing I like about regular bumpers is those adorable little bows along the rails (I'm such a girly girl, lol)! Like in this pic:

So my question is, would it be ridiculous to get satin ribbon and tie make-shift bows along the top and bottom of my breathable bumper, to give it this effect? They wouldn't be connected to the bumper (unless I sewed the ribbon to the bumper before tying around the rails...hmm). Do the bows, in any way, pose a SIDS threat (I'm thinking no...but it's worth asking)?
To give you a visual, this is the breathable bumper I'm getting (but on a white crib):
Re: Those cute little bows on bumpers: can I do this on a breathable?
Dx MTHFR (C677T & A1298C, Compound Heterozygous)
This, if you're going to do it, make the bow, then sew the entire thing onto the bumper so it doesn't unravel and become a strangulation hazard (doubtful that it would, but better safe than sorry).
Good point about sewing them on. I wasn't thinking about them coming undone. I knew that the regular bumpers are considered hazardous b/c of the suffocation factor, but I wanted to make sure the ribbons/ties weren't also a concern (breathable bumpers don't have the ties, so I wondered if there was a reason).
I'll definitely post pictures if I do this!
It's a cute idea! I just might steal it! We're using the same breathable bumper, but in sage green. Cute little chocolate bows would be adorable!
