Again, we're really into old-fashioned names...(our daughter is Betty). My husband especially.
His #1 choice is Dorothy Anne (nickname Dottie).
I'm kind of "eh" about it. I like the inclusion of Anne, that was my pick. Dorothy is also a family name. I also think it does go with Betty. But I don't LOVE it as much as I love my daughter's name.
Re: DH finally gave me his input...not sure how I feel
Love Betty. Love Dorothy. But Betty and Dottie are to matchy matchy for me. Could the nn be Dolly?
ETA: I volunteer with a lot of older ladies at my church. Sally and Jean are common names among them. Sally would be a great companion with Betty.
Florence (Flora) ?
Esther (Etty) ?

Baby Name Popularity by State
Well, aside from them both sounding ready to play for the Rockford Peaches,
I think those names are cute. Dottie and Betty are a little matchy, it's true, but she might end up being just Dot or just Dorothy or just Dolly.I say go with it.
I think it's cute and goes ... but it isn't as stellar as Betty Claire (it's Claire, right?!) What about Alice?
See, this is my problem. For us, Betty Claire was THE perfect name. Nothing else seems to be living up.
I was going to say the same thing.

My friend has a Ruth. They call her Ruthie a lot.
Their Girl #2 is either going to be Dorothy, Molly or Lucy.
Just a few more suggestions for you. I hope you find something you both love!
My Ovulation Chart
Funny, I like them together and on their own - Dorothy and Betty both have their iconic images and thanks to A League of Their Own, Dottie is a great vintage name. I agree; I stll love Sally, but I think this is a good name also.

What about Greta, Alice, Maude, Jane, Ginger, Daisy, June (I adore June with Betty),
I'd suggest Grace a la Grace Kelly, but it's so popular now.
What about looking at all the names of 30s/40s actors? Or even names of roles Bette Davis has played?

Hey aren't you the one who made fun of my daughter's name last year? Funny, thanks for keeping it classy. Someone posted that I thought of the name because I changed the batteries in my vibrator after having sex (get it, alkaline).
Anyway, here is the explanation of her name Akela (as in "wolf" in Inuit or "noble" in Hawaiian, also the name of the den mother in cub scouts) I added Lyn to her name because it's my mother in laws name. You have probably ran into her, she's worked at Tilley's forever.
BTW, as I've worked in education for a while, we teachers tend to not name our children with so-called "normal" names because they remind us of kids we are not fond of or it's Murphy's law that in a year or two we'll have a kid in our class who is not our favorite and has the same name as our kid.
I won't make fun of your kids' names, because I don't pick on babies like you do. Good luck with the pregnancy, as you can see from my siggy, Akelalyn came after her brothers died.
Oh, and by the way, making fun of kids names because they don't "sound right" to you is kinda prejudiced. I've had names like Traveon, Epic, Essence, etc. in my classes, and sometimes that is all they have, their name. It's a unique representation of themselves, regardless of who can and can't pronounce them, the names have meaning behind them. You shouldn't make fun of the kids in your city or their parents, I've worked closely with them, and they aren't bad people. Quit giving Beloit a bad name, it's a good town with great people, regardless of their cultural preferences for naming their kids.
