Postcoital test ? (Repost from TTC)

I am pretty sure I will be having one tomorrow. As long as my OPK is + (it is almost there now), I will be having sex in the morning and the exam tomorrow afternoon.

 I know what it is for, I am just unsure of what the whole process entails. The doctor explained that it was similar in feeling to a pap smear and that it is a quick procedure. I am wondering about the outcome. What if it is not good? What should the next step be? If you have personal experiences, please share. Meanwhile, I will be googling! TIA

    Hi! I had one done and it wasn't pleasant. I mean, it was exactly like a pap and didn't hurt at all. But waddling in there after doing the deed to have her inspect that area was just uncomfortable! My RE told me she was conducting the test to see what my DH's sperm were doing in my cervical mucus. She wanted to see if they were compatible. Fortunately, everything looked good so I don't have any advice if the outcome isn't good. I have read that the test is rarely done anymore but I didn't mind her being thorough. Good luck and it will be over before you know it. :)

    I had one done.  Not painful, just like a pap.  Mine was done to see if the sperm were swimming and if I had any cervical mucus, since a big side effect of clomid is no cervical mucus.  The test showed that the sperm didn't have anything to swim in so we immediately moved on to IUI's.

    Hi.  I had a PCT last week (the morning after I got a +OPK).  It was very similiar to a pap and was pain free.  My result was lots of CM, but DH's sperm were "window shopping" (nurse's phrase).  Apparently, there were fewer living sperm than desirable and they were swimming erratically instead of in a forward direction.  I have b/w this week to check my progesterone.  Good luck.
