Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How much & when does your 6-7 month old eat?

I have no idea if I'm over feeding or under feeding DS.  Any time I feed him, he'll eat until he gets sick, so I can't really go by his cues.  When we were at his 6 month appt, the ped said to start decreasing his formula (he gets about 28 oz still) and increase his solids (he eats 2-4 oz of solids twice a day), but she didn't say how; i.e. which meal to decrease his formula, to increase the amount of solids he eats at one time or replace a bottle with solids, etc.  DS was screaming bloody murder about the time she brought this up so i didn't get a chance to clarify.  Can you tell me what your 6-7 month old eats and when?

TIA!!!!

Re: How much & when does your 6-7 month old eat?

  • Well I can't tell you how much formula but DD still nurses the same # of times a day and her night time bottle is the same amount of EBM. But I couldn't tell you if she gets more or less during the day time.

Right now she eats Lunch and Dinner. Usually somewhere between 2-6 oz each time.

    So it is

    Nurse

    Nurse, Solids

    Nurse,

    Nurse, Solids

  • My daughter is 7 months old, 8 months on the 22nd.  She eats 5oz of formula every 4 to 5 hours and she gets 4 to 5 tablespoons of cereal with a little bit of veggies.  I was feeding her cereal at lunch too but she was spitting up too much.  So I went back to just giving her cereal and veggies before her last bottle of the evening.
  • I only feed LO once a day, about 5pm.  He nurses at 4pm and gets a bottle (about 6oz) at 6pm, and then goes to bed.

He gets about 2T of solids, which is all he usually wants.  He either gets vegetable mush, banana mush or fruit mixed with vegetable mush.  Sometimes I give him a chunk of nectarine or watermelon in a mesh feeder for 'desert'

Allie is a snacker. I wish I could get her to take more at a feeding and nurse less often but she STTN (from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM) so I'm not complaining!
