Anyone else hate Winnie the Pooh stuff?

I can't stand it! I'm so tired of Winnie the Pooh nursery crap. Really, I don't mean any offense if its your style or you love Pooh. It just drives me crazy. Can I put on my registry "ABSOLUTELY NO POOH!" j/k. I'd never do that. But its soooo not my style. I am more contemporary/transitional. Anyone else feel the same way? Maybe we can bond over our dislike of that silly bear and his friends.

  • I would have to agree with you. Apparently when I was little I was all into Pooh and had this Pooh hat that was like a treasured item....so when my sister was born I told my mom to give her my hat and for whatever reason since that day my family thinks Pooh is like my favorite character. Really? I was two people. Things change! So my mom and grandma assumed I would want Pooh stuff for my DD. Thank goodness I made it loud and clear that there would be no Pooh stuff in my baby's room!

  • i wouldnt say i hate it.  but its not my style at all.  im not into any of the themed nursery stuff. when we had our baby shower with ds, we were both very happy no one bought us anything winnie the pooh.

  • Oh, you and me both. We got given a ton of clothes from a couple different friends and I swear, NONE of the Pooh stuff was ever worn by their kids either- that stuff all still has tags, haha! I'm putting them in the bottom drawer as spares just in case, but they're probably not going to get worn again and I'll just end up donating them.

This!! I really hate the Winnie the Pooh one also though. And, I saw a Hello Kitty crib set and thought it was hideous!! It's just not my style AT ALL!

  • I'm with you 100%. It's soo Walmart.

  • I'm not a fan of character stuff in general.  I would never put it in a nursery because it's not my taste and I only dress dd in character clothing when we are going to see the person that bought it for her (she only has 2 outfits like that one with Minnie Mouse and one with Elmo).  I'm also not looking forward to when she can ask me to buy character outfits (I'm picturing some horrible bedazzled Disney Princess type outfit).  With my luck it will be her favorite outfit that she wants to wear everyday!

  • I hate all character stuff- in decor and especially on clothing.  Bleck!  My SIL apparently loves it, because almost all of her hand me downs to us had characters on them.

  • Winnie the Pooh doesn't bother me to to much, but I can't stand any of the Warner Bros. cartoon characters. Like that stupid tweetie bird. Angry
  • Yes, I haaaate it. I keep getting Winnie the Pooh stuff from people!!
  • I'm with you on this one. Yuck O. Thumbs down to all character nurseries.

I gotta agree that the Warner Bros. stuff is worse then the Pooh stuff. I don't mind it so much on clothes, just not in the nursery. DS has a few Sesame St shirts and things like that and I'm SURE DD will have a few Cinderella things (cause she's my FAVORITE princess!).

  • I mentioned on here once how much I dislike it. My friend who is  throwing my shower always buys her son winnie the pooh things and I tell her I think its cute for other people but just not my style, yet she will laugh and  throw it in the cart and just say things like " well hope you can fake a happy face when you open  this at your shower" ???? WTF is wrong with you???

  • I think Winnie the Pooh is kind of cute.  I also like Snoopy.  Not really a fan of other cartoon characters though.

  • I used to feel the same way about all the character stuff, and i still wouldn't do the kids rooms with a character theme, but I had to get over the character's on clothing issue.  My DD's get so excited when they see their favorite characters on clothes or shoes.  As for Winnie the Pooh, my 2 1/2 year old is so in love with Winnie and all the other characters!  So she has some cool vintage looking pooh bear shirts and all the stuffed animals.
  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS everyone keeps asking what disney theme I am doing the room!! I HATE it!! All of it the clothes, the stuffed animals, wall hangings. I know some people love it but I am not one of them.

  • We're not doing any sort of cutesey theme for LO's room.  It's not my style and I just find it totally distracting.
Proud Momma to two beautiful children!!!

  • I hate it and all themes--like cheesy baby crap.  I have never been like that that.  Don't want to offend those of you who like it, but I don't.  Love the modern stuff.

  • omg can we all be BFFs and braid eachother's hair. I hate winnie the pooh and mickey and all that crap. i refuse to let my child have any winnie the pooh stuff or mickey or anything. HATE.

i hate it so much. im not sure why. but it really bothers me.

so obviously my mom as a joke said she was going to make my shower invites "pooh"... i told her i wouldnt show up. haha.

  • I do like Pooh but I feel like EVERYONE does this as their nursery theme.  It just gets redundant.
  • Omg yes!  I can't stand any cartoon stuff in general!

  • If I get anything pooh my mom is going to quietly exchange it or donate it for me. I don't want it in my house at all. It has more to do with memories that I don't want associated with my child, but I'm glad someone else feels the same way. I was starting to think I was crazy.

  • No flames...but the Loony Tunes characters say trashy to me.  I always see Taz and Tweety Bird in the auto parts store...maybe that's why.
  • Waaaaa!Crying I love my pooh nursery :( This is my invite.image

  • I refuse to put anything cartoon character-like in the nursery.  However, I remember from when my siblings were younger that the clothes thing is an issue.  If they see something with their favorite Disney character on it, they will want it (like tennis shoes).  I guess I don't feel that's as bad.
  • I am with you I told my family absolutely no Winnie the Pooh stuff. I am also not a fan of Loony Tunes either.

  • My friend specifically put on her registry please no winnie the pooh. It saves you from having to return it later.

  • I really dislike all of the character stuff! My DH even works for Disney, but everyone already knows we will have nothing Disney related in our house! People couldn't believe I didn't want a Disney wedding. Oy!

  • I'm not crazy about Pooh overall, I don't really understand why he has become so popular. And I would never do a Disney themed nursery. But stuffed animals or clothes with characters on them don't really bother me.

  • I thought I was the only one.  It's nice to see that there are other people like me out there!
  • I don't like it either, especially the "classic" Winnie the Pooh style- it just looks washed out and faded. I also can't stand clothing/bedding with the Sesame Street characters. It all just looks so dated to me. I much prefer patterns which is more modern, IMO.

DH scanned an Elmo robe & slipper set along with matching washcloth and towel for our registry. I am so tempted to delete it! Hoping it will be discontinued by our shower, or that no one will buy it.

  • I have to disagree with you but it's for a good reason. My grandfather introduced me to Winnie the Pooh when I was really young. We used to watch all the movies and he would always read me the Pooh books. I've kept every Winnie the Pooh book he gave me. He died suddenly when I was 16 and it's just something I hold very dear to my heart. With that said, I'm not into having it as my nursery theme. I just want the books I kept and a few "classic" Winnie items. I certainly don't want the whole nursery decked out in Winnie.

What I do HATE is PINK PINK PINK for girls. It drives me crazy! If I'm having a girl I'll have some pink, but I'm not going all out.
