Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When did your LO say "Mama" and mean you?!

So, DS has been saying "mamama..... mamama..." for a while now, mostly when  he's tired. I can tell he wants me to get him & rock him when he does this... so I didn't count that as him saying "mama" well tonight he was with DH getting dried off after his bath & he kept saying "mama... mama..." and fussing. So I went in there & he reached for me/smiled...

When did your LO do this?

Re: When did your LO say "Mama" and mean you?!

  • Around 10 months - he heard me on the monitor when I got DD out of her crib and said momma.

DaDa is still his word of choice.

  • I would say around 10 months.   I remember one morning when I walked into the room she pointed at me and said "mum!"
  • DD did this around 6 months. Her first words were "mama baba".

Last weekend, DH was changing her and she said "dada" for the first time. Later that morning, she came to me so I could give her a sip of what I had in the mug. I asked her "Where's your baba? Find your baba." She looked around, spotted the bottle and held it up. I thought it was a fluke but DH and I tried it again the next day and she did it!

  • all i'm getting is 'da da??  DA DA!"  over and over.....

    Stick out tongue

  • About 7.5 months, she calls for me now.  She started out the same way as yours, calling mamama when she was tired, and now she says mama very discriminately.

She still says dada, but I'm not sure if it's discriminate.
