Paranoid about Pregnancy Pains (32 wks)

I've had a pretty easy pregnancy with no real discomfort beyond the basics inherent in harboring a giant parasite inside one's body.  So this is really throwing me for a loop.  Yesterday, late morning/early afternoon the bottom of my belly started to feel tender.  It was kind of a soreness - something between an overstressed muscle and a bruise.  As the day wore on the pain got worse.  Sometimes the baby would move and distend my belly and the pain would briefly become intense.  By around 8pm the area around my belly button was sore to the touch and I decided to go to bed early to see if that might help.  I woke up many times throughout the night to pee and most of those times the pain was still there to some extent.  When I woke up this morning at first I thought I was feeling better.  But after making some muffins, when I sat down for a minute, I noticed the soreness is back.  Except it's not down low by my groin as much - now it's also up near my fundus; the area around my belly button is also still very sore.

This is my first pregnancy so I don't *know* what BH are like but I *think* I've had those before and this is not like that.  My uterus is not tightening/contracting - it is just plain old SORE.

I have had no bleeding or abnormal discharge.

I do not feel ill or bad in any way other than the discomfort in my abdomen.  (Although the pain is very much there and is bad enough to limit my mobility.)

The baby is still moving relatively regularly and during the periods when he hasn't moved, I broke out the doppler to check on him.  Embarrassed

The stupid pregnancy week by week book covers placental abruption this week and so I can't help feeling paranoid that something bad is happening.  But due to the nature of the pain - with it being more dull than sharp and more consistent than intermittent - I am inclined to think this is just "growing pains".  BUT since I've never experienced any discomfort anywhere close to this my whole pregnancy, it's hard for me to just write it off.  At the same time, I know if I call my doc she's just going to say, "relax, put your feet up, drink some water, call me if it gets worse, blah, blah, blah".  So I'm posting here to see if any of you BTDT ladies can tell me if you have experienced anything similar to what I am describing?

TIA!

Re: Paranoid about Pregnancy Pains (32 wks)

  • placental abruption usually causes immediate bleeding.

soreness to me is more like round ligament pain, but I also had soreness with BV and a UTI infection.  I think you should be seen and they probably won't blow you off, but they have to ask you specific questions like where is it.

but I think I didn't get RLP after 32wks...it is mainly the growing phase.  RLP to me feels sore but goes away...if you sneeze it is that sharp pain that hurts or you roll over in bed too quickly.  I'd call and let them know.  infection is easy to cure if caught early.

  • definitely doesnt sound lik bh contx.  bh feel like the baby rolling ina ball on your stomach.  stomach hardening. (not sore, just hard for minutes at a time).  goes away and it happens usually afternoon or evening.
