DD has had cereal for the last two weeks and today we tried homemade apple puree for the first time --I really thought she'd like the taste.
She seemed to hate it, i'm not sure if it was because she's never tasted anything sweet or tart....but I just had this vision of her loving it?
Did your kids like their first fruits or make faces and seem to hate it too?
(DD is just over 5 months, for those wondering)
Re: First time trying apples...
Have you done veggies yet? I've always heard that you should start with veggies, not fruits, so that they don't get used to the sweetness of fruit and then not want to eat vegetables.
Also, I've read that you may have to introduce a food many, many times in order to get LO used to it. If you want her to like the apples then I would just keep presenting it to her. She'll eventually catch on.
our first fruit was banana and she really loved it.
maybe you could mix the apple puree with cereal? so she is tasting something familiar.
My pedi said yellow/orange foods before green--so that kind rules out most veggies as a first food.
I think next time around I'm going to mix the apple puree in with the cereal and slowly get her used to it. My puree was probably more tart because it was homemade so maybe that's what threw her off---either way i'm going to try it for the next 3 days and then maybe try banana
Thanks ladies!
