So was I.  Be warned, it smells.

  • My pedi said that DD really only needs the vitamin D because the other vitamins are present in breast milk.  We got the Poly Vi Sol first but DD wouldn't swallow it (and once I tasted it myself, I didn't blame her), plus it stains...then I found these drops and they are much easier.

  • Unless your LO specifically needs iron- get the Tri-Vi-Sol with Vit D or Vit D, A, and C. The iron adds a nasty taste and smell. The Tri-Vi-Sol smells yummy and my LO loves it!

  • DS's pediatrician recommended it as well.

  • No. I was told only to do vitamin D.

  • We were also told just to use Vit D.  I've been getting Tri-Vi-Sol and he likes it.  He always spit out the Poly-Vi-Sol.

I'd like to get those drops that are just Vit D, and only need one drop!

  • We use Tri-vi-sol

  • Out pedi told us to give this to DS, but every time we did he threw up A LOT.  It didn't sit well with him.  We tried mixing it in milk and in cereal/food - no dice.
  • The iron in the poly-vi-sol not only stains and smells, it can constipate, cause tummy upset, and make their poop black. I would say unless your baby has low iron (anemic) using the tri-vi-sol would be a great solution since it has vitamin D which is what breastfed babies really need. Maternal iron stores in baby deplete by 6 months, which is why all cereals are iron-fortified and that is when you should start meats. Sounds like the tri-vi-sol has a yummy taste and babies like it!
