Eco-Friendly Family

Haven't told anyone IRL about this. . .

but it's been percolating for a while.

I'm thinking about maybe trying to become a childbirth educator. I was a HS teacher before DS was born, and I really feel like natural childbirth is something I'm passionate about.

I'm just wondering if I'm being silly for thinking about it. . .

  • I think that's great! Go for it.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Never too late for a change.

  • how on earth could that be silly??  it sounds like you're taking your two passions - teaching and natural childbirth - and serving others with your talents in both.  nothing silly about that at all.
  • I don't think there's anything silly about following your dreams!  I say go for it!

  • not silly at all! Follow your passion! Big Smile
  • Not silly at all. I'm going through a bit of a quarter/mid-life crisis and wondering what I'm supposed to be. My current job just doesn't drive me. Other than to the brink of insanity. I've pondered becoming a doula, so I'm thinking along the same lines as you. GL w/ whatever you decide.
  • Go for it!  I'm also considering going that route, too! :)
  • I was a parent educator for about 3 years.  I taught teen moms about nurturing parenting, and a little about childbirth education (for the pregnant moms).  I LOVED it!  It was a really fun job that I hated to leave, but I worked for a non-profit organization, and the grant was not renewed.

  • Thanks for all the support ladies! It's just kind of scary embarking on a totally new endeavor.  And it will probably have to wait until at least 2011, when DH finishes with grad school, but it will be fun to look forward to.

Now I need to figure out how to get started!!

  • shhhhh i have not told anyone IRL but i want to become a lactation consultant, i am so passionate about bfing i feel like it would be awesome! go for yours!!
