I keep hearing about people making a special "healthy" birthday cake for their LO, with yogurt instead of frosting, etc. Is this really necessary? Are babies not allowed to have cake? Of course, we wouldn't give it to our kids every day, but for a special occasion like a birthday, is it okay to just give them normal cake, or is there some ingredient I don't know about that is really bad for them?
Re: What's the big deal about birthday cake?
My dentist had told me that if you take a child until the age of 3 and not give them any of the bad sugars, that all of the good sugars will colonize the whole mouth and there will be no room for the bad to grow. Maybe this is some of the reasonings for healthy cakes?
LOL. I don't know why, but this is one my biggest pet peeves. It's a birthday, it's cake, it's GOOD. My kid will have a real birthday cake.
(And they only get about 3 bites in, anyway....)
This. I think things are fine in moderation and I think its silly to impose "healthy" cake on everyone at the party, because I certainly am not making a whole separate batch of healthy cupcakes for LO. Besides, no one at our party will want healthy cupcakes : )
I feel the same way. ?She eats uber healthy every other day so I am going to let her have her own cupcake cake on her first b day. If others want to make a special healthy cake for their kid more power to them. ??
