Babies: 6 - 9 Months

if the pedi tells me it is teething--i am going to feel like an idiot...

so i am taking P in to the pedi today, she woke up last night (which she hardly ever does) and this morning congested.  and this morning as i was feeding her breakfast, she kept raising her arms over her head to tell me she is "SO big"...(it really doesn't lose its cuteness even after about 600 times) and she tugged at her ear twice when she was bringing her arms back down.

she doesn't have a fever, but she just wasn't herself before she went down for her nap.....but if the dr tells me it is just her teeth i am going to feel like a dumb mommy. Embarrassed

  • Don't feel bad!  Hubs is still taking Emma in even though her diapers have been back to normal for 12 hours.  I'm sure they'll say ... Uh, she looks fine ... but we don't care.  At this point, better safe than sorry after a week of illness!

  • Don't feel bad!  Better to find out it is just teeth than to ignore an ear infection!  Also, that is TOO cute about the So big!  My mom used to do this with us so it was easier to get our shirts off!

also-it is end of year around here and we have gotten busy so I am not sure how much I will be able to be on today, but I will try! Wink

  • My DD has been doing the same thing the past 2 days.  She has slept terribly (she usually sleeps 12 hours).  She has been coughing a little and pulling on her ears.  She has never done this before so I don't know if it because they hurt or she just figured out she has ears.  Maybe I should call the doctor.
  • Hopefully, it just is teething. Ear infections suck. I totally think taking her in is the right decision. My daughter has never had a fever with her ear infections.

  • I did the same thing and it was teething...I felt dumb, but my pedi was glad to see that I was concerned and that I could see the small changes in DD. I just felt a lot better knowing that it was teething instead of thinking it was teething and it turning out to be something different.

Don't feel stupid! Good mamas care and want to know what's up with their LO :)

  • My thought is, trust your mommy instincts. If you feel like something is "off", take her in. So what if they tell you it's just teething? It's better to know for sure than to be worrying or risk assuming it's just teething and have it be something else and not catch it. Don't feel like an idiot!
  • I did this on Tuesday - not sure if you remember my post about DS and his cough/congestion.  Took him in on Tuesday night to find out it's just a cold and we should just ride it out.   I have put baby vicks rub on his chest and the humidifier is back up and going in his room.  He is still STTN (12 hours) and took 2 long naps yesterday.   I sorta feel better that he got checked out and no ear infections but then I just feel like it was a wasted trip at the same time.  So annoying....
