Washington Babies

So, who is done, and who isn't?

Just out of curiosity...

Are you done having kids? Are you planning for more? Are you undecided and seeing what happens when the time comes?

As I was going through my first tri I swore that this was my last baby. But, as usual, as soon as I am done with it, and happily in my third tri, I think I can do it again!

So, I guess I fall into the undecided catagory. I mean, I will already have 3 kids, what's one more, right. ;)

  • While I love the concept of another, for practical purposes we are done.

  • We hope for another at some point, but the logistics of that might never come to fruition.
  • We are undecided at this time.  We both would like a 2nd but finances and our age is the biggest concern. We are both older DH is 39 and I am 36.

  • I would love 1 or 2 more, since I am an only child and DH just has one brother, I've always wanted a "bigger" family, but we'll have to look at our finances, pay off some debt, get a bigger car and then we'll chat...I think DH would be more "on board" if we did those things first!

  • We will definitely be having 1 or 2..or 3 more.  "When?" is the real question, and that, I have no idea!

  • We are finished after this one, having 3 would mean buying a new car, a new house, financially I can't see that happening right now considering we just bought this house.

  • We will have at least 1 more, I would like 2 more (so that would make it 3 total), but DH is sort of stuck on having only 2 right now.  He really wants a boy and we have 1 girl, so if our next is a girl I bet he would be convinced to try 1 more time for a boy.
  • TJ says he is done and I am not (I'd like 1-2 more). I'm planning on getting an IUD put in and we can talk about it again in a few years after Madeline is 2-3. I'm hoping he loves being a dad so much that he'll want another.

He keeps reminding me that we only wanted one dog and then decided to get another and our second dog is a huge PITA. I keep telling him a baby is not a dog! Huh?

This is us exactly. We'll see after #2

  • One and done! Mostly because of my age, health and the hit our finances would take, but also my mental well-being.  Sometimes I?m sad about N not having a sibling and would like to do a big gap like my parents did (9 years) but having a baby at 42, having been diabetic for over 30years, would be dangerous and stupid and selfish.

I have a great kid and our family feels complete.

Now a puppy on the other hand?..

  • We always knew we wanted 2 maybe 3 kids and that we wanted the first 2 close in age, with a 3rd a bit later. Our age is now a factor, since we do think about our age come graduation/college etc....(we will be 41 and 36 next month) While I love being pregnant and would love to do it one more time, We are 80% sure that we are finished at this point. Maybe in 2-3 years we will reconsider. We want to be able to show our kids the world. Travel, explore the historical places, financially, this seems more doable with 2 kids.

  • DONE with having our own.

We're going to revisit adopting in a few years once the girls are older, in daycare and DH is done with school and back in the workforce.

  • When we got married, DH wanted 2 kids and I wanted at least 4. We agreed to have 2 kids, then wait 3 years before deciding if we wanted 2 more. Now that we have 2, DH says he definitely wants more. We're planning to try again in a couple years, but we would be ok with it if it happened sooner. So, we are definitely not done :)
  • We are planning on trying for more after this one is born.  I'd like 2 or 3 kids, DH wants 3-4.  I figure we'll wait and see how life pans out for us once we get done with #2.

  • Our plan is for one more after this one. DH has always wanted 2, but lately he keeps acting like he only wants one and that we'll see how it goes, but I wouldn't be happy with just one. So we sat down the other night and talked about it and now we're back on the same page of wanting two.

  • Definitely not done!  We both want at least 2 more.  We'll see about a 4th.  I think it depends on how my body holds up over the next pregnancies since I had a pretty rough recovery from my c-section.  Also, we'll see where our finances stand after #3.

If money and time were not a factor, I'd probably have 5.

  • I think we are done. My husband has always said he wanted 2...I've always wanted 3. But I came to the realization the other night that by time we'd be ready to have another both kids would be out of diapers (hopefully!) and I won't want to go back, we'd be older and it will have been that much longer that my degree has been sitting useless. So at my next appointment I'll be telling my doctor to go ahead and tie me up while she's in there.

  • I have just now come around to wanting another baby.  We are probably going to try pretty soon.  I am going to be 35 in Oct, and I don't want to be too much older.

That being said, Austin is now arching his back and screaming whenever I try to put him in his carseat, or high chair, so maybe one is fine Wink

  • We definitely want one more, but that's it.  (We're a 2 and done kind of family.  Never let your kids out number you, I say.)  My hope is that they'll be 3 years apart.
  • We would have loved to have one more but our IVF luck had run out and we've been unsuccessful.  Based on my age and our recent lack of success, we are calling it a day. We feel like we won the baby lottery with G, so we are eternally grateful for the one we have.

  • I'm of the one-and-done camp...but I also believe in never say never. We're a bit older, and it's partly due to money and the other part due to time and patience and sanity. I just tell people we got a winner so why push it? Haha. But if an accident were to happen (knock-on-Mirena) we would move forward - along with a vasectomy LOL.
  • If it were up to me, we'd have 4 - but with age and $$, we will have 2 more and that's it.

Hopefully start trying for #2 in the spring.

  • We're going to be done at two, unless we have another boy, and then we may adopt a girl from India.

This is me, EXACTLY!!! We will probably have one or two more. DH was pretty dead set on two, then Max came. I think if #2 is half as wonderful as Max, I can convince him to have another!

  • We are happy with 2 and adore them. Taking a see what happens the next 6 mo approach on #3. I do not want femara/iui again.

  • We are really just starting. I'm not even pregnant yet. I know we want at least 2 maybe a third but we will see how I do with being pregnant. I have always wanted 3 but if there are underlying issues with having the first 2 I don't think I would go on and have a third.

  • I am pretty sure we are finished.  One is a good number for us.  With two big dogs and we like to camp and travel a lot ( roadtrips) the logistics with more than one baby just doesn't add up. So for now I am saying we are finished with one.
  • Not done! We'd like to TTC for the next one within a year. I think we'll be done then, but who knows since I never thought I'd want 3!

  • I always wanted 4 and H wants 2.  This will be our first in Dec. and then we will probably wait 2 years and start TTC again.  I think I have come to realize that 4 is not going to work out and I think 2 would be great!

I took a let's see what happens approach after having Jillian via IUI/femara, and now we have Hayden!
