Ugh morning sickness

Not like throwing up sick but constant nausea. I was excited when I got out of bed and had none then I came to the living room and there it was... it's hard work to feel like such crap and have a little one running around because you can't just lay on the couch and sulk! I would almost rather throw up because then the nausea usually goes away (or at least that's how the flu works, I'm not sure if this is the same).

I wonder how long I can actually keep it from work being that I feel like such crap! Yesterday pp kept asking me if I was ok and I kept saying "just stomach problems" and the girls would laugh and say "ah you're pregnant again!"... I would just say "not that I know of"... Part of me wants to tell just to get it out there and then they'll all know I'm not just being a big faker and part of me wants to wait until my next appt after 11 weeks so we can hear the HB one more time... decisions, decisions.

I'll be hunting for sour candy today... hoping that helps!

Re: Ugh morning sickness

  • Have you tried taking ginger? I took the capsules and it seemed to help. Sour candy did help too, though. Also, slushy drinks - like Jamba juice. Yum. What do you do at work when X-ray comes around? No one in our unit can really keep pg a secret because xray comes every morning and all the pg girls wanna leave the room. Just wondering how that works for you. Hope you feel better soon!

  • I haven't tried ginger yet, I'm not really a fan of eating it but I guess I could try the capsule. I tried B6 and that's not doing a thing!

Xray never comes around our department, usually our kids go downstairs to radiology and I try not to go with them Smile I'm debating on when to tell because I've just felt like such crap.

This morning I ate breakfast and in the middle of it I got really nauseous. I ate at 7 ish and it's 10 now and I'm STARVING again but nothing sounds good... ahh!! I may resort to chips and salsa, that's what I ate for the entire week that I felt like crap with Bella.

  • I second jamba juice!

The strawberry lemonade one (surfrider?) was great - slushy, sugary, AND sour! (personal preference - I would ask them to leave out the peaches and put in extra strawberries).

I didn't have horrible-can't-get-out-of-bed sickness but I usually had to throw up everymorning.  That gave me enough time to get ready but I was usually sick again by the time I had to commute.  Eating small amounts constantly seemed to help, but the problem was finding something that sounded good, and it usually changed often.

    good luck.

I didn't tell anyone at work until 15 weeks or so, but at that time I worked by myself and would sometimes go lay down in my big storage/file closet - not because I was tired but to help with the nausea and hot flash type symptoms.  I brought a blanket and pillow and no one ever knew :)

  • you could try ginger ale too, not sure if you dislike the taste of that or not

the sour patch kids were my lifesaver :) as were saltines... i never felt like eating them but i found that if i kept shoving a few down every 15 minutes that it would fend off the nausea. it's funny b/c when i went to visit the ILs we were at church and i got sick and had a few saltines during the service and later this guy came up to my MIL and asked her if she had any big news to share LOL

i think if you are worried about something happening to the baby, you are safe to tell people at work...if there are other reasons to hold on telling them then i might wait.  i know you're super cautious right now but i really think that this baby is going to be just fine :) esp since he/she is totally messing up your hormones and causing this m/s :) it's a good sign!

  • I'm not worried about something happening to this baby, I'm SURE it's a sticky one!! Smile I guess I'm just nervous since it's still early and so many people wait until they are 12 weeks to tell... I should just get over it!

  • Heh, nothing helped my m/s so I can't help you much there, but I hope it doesn't last too long!

As for telling ppl, I think you should just tell them whenever you're comfortable with it =) I hated it when people asked before I was ready to tell...hehe

  • Ugh, I know how you feel! I never actually threw up with m/s but I had extreme nausea 24/7 - I desperately wished I was one of those women who could just throw up once a day and be done with it!

Super sour candy was the ONLY thing that worked for me - dry crackers, etc. did nothing, and for some reason ginger just made me feel even sicker. Sad

me too!  i had at least one friend who flat out asked - are you pregnant?  it really irritated me.  look - if i want you to know, i'll tell you m'kay?  Stick out tongue  b/c i hate lying, but i'm not telling - our parents don't even know yet!  i used the "not that i know of" response.  </rant>

i hope you find a cure for your m/s - doesn't sound fun at all - but it is a good sign Smile.  i was lucky - as long as i ate every few hours, i was okay. if my stomach was empty, i would feel sick, but it'd go away as soon as i ate something.

...i really want some sour patch kids now!  haha.

I've used the "not that I know of" response several times! I feel like a complete a$$ because I do KNOW 100% and the baby has a strong beating heart! But I'm in the same boat, when I want you to know, I'll announce it so don't ask! It's like you don't ask a chubby girl when she's due, uh she may just have "leftovers" like me!

  • hi hi hi sarah...

that's me last week. i couldn't even tolerate water. i've been on the zofran since monday night and it's helped to keep the liquids in... finally. i'm still a bit nauseous, but not to the point where i'm in bed all the time like before.

mine would hit every few hours. i would do everything in the books and nothing helped... i hope you find relief soon!!!

re telling people, i wanted to wait too. but i just didn't want to lie. i just couldn't hide it 'cause i had this glowing green look about me.

     it does irk though!
