Babies: 6 - 9 Months

OMG Farrah! (Teen Mom)

I didn't even watch the full episode last night, but in the beginning where Sophia is sitting in the kitchen sink getting a bath BY HERSELF, really piissed me off!!   Farrah was in the other room sitting down!  Sophia turned the water faucet on and it looked like she may have hurt herself because the water was hot.

First of all who leaves a baby unattended while getting a bath??  That girl seriously ticks me off.

Re: OMG Farrah! (Teen Mom)

  • I haven't seen last night's episode yet (it's DVR-ed), but I just want to say, I keep thinking that I hope something terrible doesn't have to happen to Sophia before Farrah "gets it". :-(

  • iI was yelling at the tv when I saw that!  DH probably thought i was nuts.  Plus, the water was completely full.  She could have easily slipped in.

  • Indifferent Holy cow.  What an idiot.  I hope she learns fast before the baby gets hurt...
  • she totally burned herself. you can tell because she touches the water and immediately grabs her hand and starts crying!
  • I agree and I'm usually a Farrah hater, but I watched the whole episode and when she went to therapy my heart seriously ached for her.

I didn't make it that far.  I am going to watch the rest tonight.  At least she is realizing that she needs help and getting it.  But, I don't think that excuses putting her childs life in danger by leaving her in the sink alone.

  • She should be drawn and quartered. MTV should be ashamed of themselves for airing her negligent mothering. MTV is trash.

  • They manage to show her irresponsibility every episode. Even DH was like Wtf. Between the dinnet and the therapy sessions I started to feel sorry for her.
  • Guys Sophia was also in the sink, she could have leaned over and fallen out. Ugh Farrah makes me sick.

  • Yeah...the whole bathing thing really bothered me...WTF!!!!

I felt bad for her when she was in therapy AND when she was at dinner with her parents.  They didn't allow her to celebrate HER baby's first birthday.  Annoying!

I actually think she's manipulative and tells people things like that to get sympathy.  (Even though I do know sophia's father did die and that is really sad for Sophia.)

  • I don't watch the show, and I hate reality TV shows...but especially ones like this. Sorry, but everyone who watches crap TV like that is just promoting more mothers like that so that they can have their "15 minutes of fame". You may hate her, but you're allowing her to get paid for stupid things like that.

Also, I don't understand how MTV is allowed to sit there and let the baby go through situations like that and not intervene. I understand it's a reality show, but shouldn't they be obligated to keep a child from getting hurt while on their show??

I don't know what it is about that show, but I can't stop watching it!  I should though because it obviously only makes me angry!

  • Most reality tv today is just poor acting. Watching it versus watching Lost is not that big of a difference. Plus the camera was right in her face. That means there arr plenty of people around. I truly believe the car seat thing was staged. Point is, a reality show is just as staged as a normal show. They have cameras, producers, writers...etc all on the set.

Which means they're purposefully hurting this child for the sake of the popularity of this show??

I agree.  Farrah did leave her outside the apartment, but I don't think she did the things they showed.

Teen Moms is a guilty pleasure...some of us watch it...others don't.

  • Yeah, I heard from another Bumpie in their hometown that he died in a car wreck.  It was when I was still on 2nd tri, I think (maybe 3rd?).  I don't think MTV will get involved unless Sopia is in a life threatening situation.  I didn't see the episode last night, but unless it looks like Sopia will drown or fall out of the sink, then they will let things happen.  I wonder if Dr. Drew will bring things like this up?

Yes Yes! This is exactly what I thought when I read this post. I don't watch the show, so I don't really know what it is all about. I just  think that MTV should be responsible enough to make sure that babies are being hurt or put in harms way.

No, it means that they have them in situations that they are watched carefully. You have never even seen the show, per your previous post. The daughter was sitting in the sink full of water taking a bath. She reached over and turned the faucet on. It appeared the water was hot and she removed her hand quickly. Her mom was in the living room looking through bags. All which can easily be staged. She was not being harmed or neglected, it is bad judgement by a parent. All parents make bad judgement calls, young and old.

I don't see the point in getting all bent out of shape for a reality show. It's entertainment for most.

The point is that the network and the mom are benefiting from putting a child in a dangerous situation. The fact that you think this child wasn't "being harmed or neglected" is scary to me. A child can easily be harmed by scalding hot water.

  • I wish they put some sort of disclaimer on scenes like that one: "Note, this mom is an idiot and you should never do this."
