Tips for tranistioning to bassinet...

My DD has been sleeping in her carseat for weeks now. Doctor said it was ok, but now that we know she has torticollis, it really isn't anymore. But the reason she sleeps in the carseat is because she hates sleeping in the bassinet! So, basically, I've just been trying to put her in the bassinet first every night, but she still just wakes up after about 2 minutes. SO, the physical therapist recommended putting her in when she is still awake so she isn't like, shocked when she wakes up in a different spot than she's used to. I'm just going to put her in it as often as possible, awake or asleep I think. I am also going to put the basket on the floor next to my bed where the carseat usually goes. Any other tips?

  • LOL! If I could only get my LO to sleep anywhere but on my body. She takes all her naps while I wear her and sleeps right next to me at night. She is a snuggle bear. However, I have some ideas of things you could try (not all have worked for us obviously, but we will get there someday). :) First, it sounds like she enjoys being snuggled up tight since the car seat provides a nice little space for her. I would recomend swaddling her for sure. Also, if you can keep an eye on her, try rolling up two blankets to put on either side of her while she drifts off to sleep. It will helps her feel nice and secure. Once she is asleep, you can remove the blankets.

  • Ditto the suggestion to swaddle. Our DS wouldn't sleep anywhere but on us or in his swing. We started swaddling him and putting him the bassinet once he was already asleep. We often start him off in the swing and then move him to the bassinet. He has been sleeping in the bassinet for weeks.

  • I'm gonna try swaddling again, but unfortunatly, she just kinda busts out of it :(
