DC Visits

DD will start daycare in a few weeks. She will go 3 days the first week. The second week, she will be at daycare 4 days and with my MIL the 5th. I was thinking of stopping in for a hour or 2 this week and then again next week. I think it will help me more comfortable about leaving her there. Did any of you do this? Do you think it helped with the transition?

  • Yes - helped with my transition when I first started DD #1 in daycare - I'm not sure it helped with her transition at all, or if she even noticed.  Stick out tongue

Ha, ha. This was me.  I left DS (#1) for a couple of hours one day while I went to get a pedi.  He did not even notice but I got a good cry out of the way before I went back to work :-).  When my second was ready to start daycare, I just stopped by the baby room one day to drop off diapers and wipes.  I was picking my son up anyway.

  • I did a few visits at different times of day on different days in the 2 weeks before my oldest started and it made a huge difference for me.  I got to know the staff and just see what the setting was like before leaving my baby there.
