Ped told us to feed dd at 4 days old 3-4 ounces, but then again she lost too much weight and she was concerned . Plus she also said she is a big baby 9lbs at birth and needs to eat.
She is now eating 5 ounces and is 2 weeks and 4 days old. Seems like a lot to me.
Re: How many ounces is yor 2/3 week old eating?
My baby was 8 lb 14 oz at birth and also lost a lot of weight. I have been supplementing breastmilk in a bottle for three days and giving him 2 oz. Today our pedi told us to give him 3 oz, and he chugged it down.
Just curious, are you formula feeding or bottle feeding breast milk? I only ask because formula is supposed to keep them full longer, and 5 oz seems like a lot of formula. Of course, if your pedi says it's fine, then it's fine.
I"m doing both bmilk and formula. I can't keep up with the demand. lol I only get when I pump sometimes only 2 oz from both breast and and sometimes 3 oz, but very few times. I put her on the boob and she can be on it for like 15 min to 25 on each side and is still hungry. It's hard to know what she is getting because there are also times when I have noticed that I can get only like 1.5 oz total as well. I have tried giving her after having her on the boob only like 2 or 3 oz of either bmilk or formula in a bottle and she cries so I have to give her more. Once I give her more she is fine and happy and so alert and then will take a nap.
But maybe I should double check with the ped that she is eating 5 oz now.
