Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Forward facing early to fit in the back benchseat? WWYD?

My husbands old Toyota Tacoma has a bench seat in back and although we can fit the slimmest car seat we could find back there rear facing you could not get the baby in and out. He wants to forward face her and I am having a new-mom-worry-every-second anxiety attack. He only drops her off at daycare and otherwise never travels in his truck but I am freaking out. My girl is almost 20 lbs, 8 months and tall WWYD?

  • I get how difficult this is...he doesn't reckon it will be so much an issue but you know about why not to do it.

    1. It's against the law.

    2. The safety videos are really telling (perhaps you need to show him some of the youTube videos.)

    3. It would be his fault if tragedy did strike.  It's so often other drivers that are the harmer.

    4. It only takes 1/4" movement of the spine to cause a fatal tragedy or at least a loss of function tragedy.

  • It's illegal to forward face her and very dangerous.  Find another way to transport her, another seat or just suck it up.

  • I wouldn't. If for not other reason than it's simply against the law. Your baby's safety is more important. Do you have another car the seat will fit in? Just use that car whenever you have LO with you.
