Henry has taken to waking up in the middle of the night and randomly throwing up. Not spit up. Throw up.
He seems fine right after he does it and is fine all day long.. happy.. eats normally.
He's done it 3 of the last 4 nights.
No fever. No diarrhea. Completely fine otherwise.
Has anyone ever had this happen? I'm gonna give him the weekend but if it keeps happening we'll be headed to the pedi Monday.
He's really got me stumped.. have never seen anything like this.
Ideas? Could this be some kind of reflux-y kind of thing?
ETA: he also does not have any kind of cough or sinus stuff going on.
Re: Mystery barf?
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
Yes at night... not sure why my brain skipped that word
I added it in.
It is strange!
Oh that's really interesting.. I hope that doesn't happen to you often!
I have tummy troubles too when I get stressed/anxious...
You know what I think is happening with him though.. I think he's actually being woken up by the vomiting. Like he's in a sound sleep then suddenly *yak* with no forewarning whatsoever. And then of course he's awake and crying and coughing.
I'm pretty afraid he's going to aspirate some of it since it happens so quickly and he sleeps on his back sometimes.
at the risk of sounding like Dr. House.... but you're "of medical mind" anyways...
vasovagal syncope? that's the only thing that comes to mind to me. Weird. weird. weird. Especially since now it's become reoccurant. Let us (well, at least me) know what the doc says.
I thought he was too old for it too.. especially since he's never really had any issue with it. He wasn't much of a spitter/throw-upper when he was smaller at all.
I'm not sure about the food... we eat dinner at 5:30ish. He goes to bed around 7:30 or 8:00 and nurses right before but I don't have a ton of milk or anything. And this is the routine we've always had since he's started solids. He hasn't eaten any more than usual.
I guess it couldn't hurt to try and feed him a little earlier and see if it helps... I wonder if that would make him be up more at night to nurse? Maybe we'll give it a shot tonight.
Is it possibly that it's an allergy that he's developing? Either something he's eating or something you're eating that he's getting through BM? Just a thought. It may have taken awhile for him to sensitize to it which is why it would just be happening now. Is there something common that he's eating in the days that this happens?
Are you sure its not allergy/sinus related???
Sinus drainage can actually be quite "silent."
You can have drainage that causes nausea/throw-up without "seeing" (no nose or mouth drainage.....).....and you can have it without hearing it too.
Just throwing this out there......we have lots of allergy and sinus issues in our house, so I'm accustomed to this "silent" drainage unfortunately.
I hope you figure things out soon!
