Black/blue/green spots on soiled CD's

I wash every other day, but I have started to notice large green (bright green)/blue and sometimes even blackish spots on the soiled diapers that I pull out of the diaper pail. It's always pee diapers. What is this? It's freaking me out.

  • I would like to know, too!  I get spots, too.  I noticed some reddish spots this time.  Also, some hemp inserts I bought used have black/blue/green spots.  I'm freaked out.

  • They look like bit watercolor sploches.

Sounds like mold to me.  I've never gotten these and I wash every 3-4 days.  How much detergent are you using?  Do you sun them?

yeah I'd run your diapers through a bleach wash and sun them to kill any mold.  I'd also think about your wash routine.  Mold is not something you want on or near your LO's lady or boy bits.

  • That makes no sense to me. We wash every other day.

cold rinse, hot wash with rock'n'green (2-3 tbsp depending on load) double cold rinse. Line dry or tumble dry depending on weather.

The colors do sound like mold.  The mold spots are actually on the used hemp inserts I purchased, not on my own diapers, so I will bleach them a little.
