Scarlett Alyssa

We are seriously considering this as our girl name. What do you think? Or maybe Scarlet Alyssa?

Re: Scarlett Alyssa

  • Personally I don't think it flows very well.  Scarlett is NMS, but I love Alyssa.

  • What's the first initial of the last name?

Hhhmmm...Scarlett is a surname (famous for Gone with the Wind) which was based on the color, and Scarlet is a color, so I guess it's just a matter of which association you're looking at. They're paths cross, but I think they took different routes once they left Persia.

I think it looks good how you have it barring any oddities with the last initial

  • I think their styles are very different. Scarlett is one of my favorite names, but it's getting very, very trendy. I also like Alyssa, but it has a completely different vibe for me. That said, I don't think they clash or sound bad together, just a little odd.
  • I think Scarlett Alyssa sounds nice. Although as a pp mentioned you may want consider your last name initial-- it wouldn't be nice to have SAD, SAP or SAG or something like that as initials.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is EXACTLY how I feel. DH really loves these names together but I couldn't put my finger on why it seems a little odd to me.

  • Maybe Alyssa Scarlett, but Scarlett Alyssa is NMS

  • That's the other thing, I keep wanting to reverse them! Thank you ladies for your honest opinions. We are nixing this combo!
  • well Alissa is my own name, and I like it, but prefer Allison

And in sound, I like Scarlett....but one time I was shopping and heard a mother call her little girl, Scar (I'd assume short for Scarlett) and that kind of blemished the name for me...not a nice sounding nickname for a little girl

  • lettie is a good nickname for scarlett

Pretty much what I was thinking!

  • Wow, I just looked up the meaning of the name, Alyssa. While it's described as a variant of Alicia, Behind the Name has it down as being influenced by the alyssum flower....which maeans Against Madness/Rabies.

  • I love Scarlett! I don't think it goes that well with Alyssa, but it's not horrible or anything. I much prefer Scarlett over Scarlet.

  • I really like the name Scarlett. I hate the name Alyssa.
