boob pain

I have HORRIBLE pain on the inside of my breasts (where they come together)....I thought maybe it was engorgement but the rest of my boob isn't really rock hard like it is when I am full...could I have engorgment in only some of my ducts? Could it be an infection? It started to hurt after I wore a sleep bra all day yesterday...I'm wondering if maybe I just didn't have enough support?

It could be a clogged duct.  Is there a lump in one area?  If so, take a warm shower or put a heading pad on it & then massage it for a couple minutes before BF/pumping.

  • If it's only in part of the boob, it sounds more like a clogged duct.  If that's what it is I've found what I have to do is massage/compress the area while the baby is nursing or I am pumping (which is usually a little painful, unfortunately).  You can also try warm compresses before/after nursing.  You may actually see the clog come out, looks like a little white string.  You do want to try and clear it because it can lead to an infection, but if you don't have other signs (warmth around the area, fever, general flu-like symptoms) you can probably catch it in time.
