Breastfeeding

Male Co-workers and Breastfeeding

I have to say that I get a little bit of a kick out of watching male co-workers get uncomfortable at the mention of the word "breastfeeding."  Stick out tongue

Most of my male co-workers are used to BFing women, because we've had so many.  But it's still funny and I usually refer to it as "gotta take care of feeding the baby."

  • I always say "I have to go milk myself".  That makes them REALLY uncomfortable.

  • We only have one guy in the office; recently married, 25 years old, no kids.  He was very "weirded-out looking" when I first mentioned that I had to pump on my lunch and afternoon break.  Now I just say I'm "doin' my thing" and he has seemed much more comfortable about it.

Personally, I hate when my mom asks me how "pumping my breasts" is going.

That's what I waould say too.  My co-workers would get all flustered, it was hilarious.

  • We only have one other woman in the office who ever breastfed, and everyone in general is pretty uncomfortable with it.  It's actually gotten annoying because they all get so freaked out by the sterilizer bag of pump parts!  I have forgotten it in the microwave once in a while, and they are completely freaked out by it!

LOL!  That's pretty funny.  I don't think I'll be able to be quite as candid with my coworkers (I work with ALL men), but I'll be proud of myself if I use that line...
