Hello ladies. my DH and I are takling about heading back to the RE. Dhs insurance has better coverage and we will add my name to it during their open enrollment in October. My insurance coveres the diagnosis of infertility. Here's my question:
Would insurance count me as already diagnosed? (PCOS) Or i sone not considered infertile after a birth. (Ex, I would be considered infertile again after a year of trying or confirmation by blood, cysts, ect that I am STILL infertile. Any thoughts?
Re: Input on this insurance question
My PCOS didn't make a difference when I was added to my new insurances. We moved to a different state and I was on my work's and DH's work ins. as well.
One thing that helped was that I stayed on my ins and added DH's. Some things mine wouldn't cover, his would and vise versa even though his is a much better plan.
Even though my ins only covered the diagnosis of if, it covered all of my blood work and u/s for my cycles while I was at the RE. It didn't cover my my blood test saying I was pg, or the u/s after I was pg. I know it is silly, but I guess they didn't cover it because I was at a specialist and was already pg. Not sure the reasoning behind it.
No clue about the infertile after a birth.

If your DH's insurance covers treatment for infertililty and you have credible coverage, they should cover your infertility even if it has been previously diagnosed. Credible coverage means that your prior coverage would have satified the pre-exisiting condition limitation for the new insurance coverage.
It sounds like you've been covered under your employer's plan so you should be okay.
