A five-year-old boy with a (faux) diamond stud in his left ear. At least, I'm hoping it's a fake diamond, because that would be even gaudier (and a waste of money) if it was real.....
I once saw an 8 month old baby with gel in his hair on the T! His hair was all slicked down. Ew.
Righr?!? Is it just public transportation that brings out all the tacky, over the top dressers, or do you think we notice them more because there are more people??

I really have no clue. My MIL puts fake flowers in her yard (like sticks them into the dirt)... I really think they are just everywhere.

::dies:: HAHAHAHAHA!!
Are you kidding?? I think that your MIL just beat out the kid with the studded left ear.
I know a woman who has a son who is now around 13 years old. He currently has 2 very large diamond earrings, one in each ear. Up until about 2 years ago, in addition to an earring, he had about an 8 inch long tail in his hair. Nice. She (and the boy) think they are "all that" because she has a brother who at one time was a popular college basketball player in this area, and he now plays basketball professionally in Europe. So they are cooler than cool (in their minds!).
My MIL puts fake flowers in her yard (like sticks them into the dirt)... I really think they are just everywhere.
hahahahaha!
I'm shocked and not all at the same time.
She bought LO a pink Harley Davidson outfit. I just hope there are no studs. I am hoping after the shower drama that she is mad at us and returns it. lol.

Oh, now I remember! Still not on speaking terms, huh? At least, you're stress-free for a bit...
I know!
H's b-day is next week so I'm sure the drama will pick back up at some point, then. Or, she'll try to win mother of the year by actually making an effort to see him on his b-day and proceed to kiss his ass for another angle on the shower. All fun and games!

OMG, no worries at.all. Your BSC MIL makes me laugh...sorry to hear you have one, but she's entertaining, at least, right?
I'd say a third of the male population, in the school I taught at, had their ears pierced. This was k-6 by the way.
That's just so sad.
Why is it sad? Because they're boys or because they're young?
I don't understand why it's so horrible if boys get their ear(s) pierced.

Becuase they're so young...they obviously don't have the wherewithall yet to make a rational decision, so all of their decision-making is based upon what they see and what they think is cool. And obviously, the parents have a lot to do with that. IMO, that is sad.

Yes if they're still in lower school (K-5). Tacky, in my opinion, but not as sad as if they're boys. Double standard? Sure...but it's just my opinion.

I don't know, my girlfriend pierced her daughter's ears before she was 1 and it's kind of cute. I don't think I would do it, but I don't think it's tacky or trashy or anything.

Ok. But you realize that in 5th grade, most kids are 10-11 years old, right? They should be able to choose at the point whether or not to get their ears pierced.

I feel bad when I see some kids with their tacky parents and you can totally tell that they have no chance but to be socially awkward.
