Snoogle (or the like): Yes or No?

In response to the below post about sleep, I want some opinions on that thing called the Snoogle. I am just now at the point where I am not sleeping comfortably. It takes me a couple of hours to fall asleep and when I do I usually wake up with a crick in my neck.

I currently have 8 pillows in my bed (poor DH). WOuld you recommend that I get a Snoogle or just try to tough it out some more? WHat's your opinion on the pregnancy pillow- worth the money? too warm to sleep with? etc...

TIA ladies! :))

Re: Snoogle (or the like): Yes or No?

  • I dont' have a snoogle, but a plain $10 body pillow. It's not great, but makes a big difference to my sleep. I still roll on my back (not worried about that) and struggle to get comfortable, but it's much better than individual/normal sized pillows. And in terms of hte heat, I do live in a cooler climate than most of you, but without a/c, so it can get warm/stuffy. I do alright, but then I also will go without the covers, or use them to my advantage.

My only problem is that I wish I had two - one to lean my back against, and one to support the bump. Maybe the snoogle helps with that?

  • This is an arguement me and my friend have.

I hadn't slept at all for a few days, I was aching all over, and posted on her. A few ladies told me to try the snoogle, so I went over the reviews got it fromt target.com and loved it. I have not had a restless sleep in the past couple of weeks. My aches aren't half as bad as before either.

Now my friend, who got a body pillow for 10 dollars at walmart said she is doing just fine. She said that she can snuggle right on up to it and sleep perfectly.

This for me would not work, because I prefer the support I get from the snoogle. It was def worth the money I that I put into it.

Lastly, my friend is stick thin. She is 5'2 and probably about 110 lbs? Really tiny. I am 5'6 and wiegh about 185ish at this point in my preggoness.. So I don't know if size is a big thing either?

    ????????
  • I hated my Snoogle and I returned it.  I don't like that I had to use it as my pillow too.  I like my one pillow for my head.  I use a king sized pillow on one side of me and a Boppy Snuggle Pillow between my legs/knees.

Yea, snoogle does help with that. I usually wake up in the same position I fell asleep in.. Unless I had to get up for a potty break. And it never has been too warm for me.

  • Yeah, I contemplated the body pillow thing, but I'm hesitant to go buying a bunch of cheaper options when I will probably end up with the more expensive item in the end. If it's really worth it, then I should probably go ahead and buy one...

"Honey- can I have $60 to buy a pillow?!?"  LoL!

  • I just got a body pillow.  It works ok - I think I'm waking up/tossing and turning b/c I'm just not a side sleeper.

I used the Snoogle for the first time last night.  I don't love that I have to use it as a pillow for my head but I did stay in the side-sleeping position all night (until I woke up to turn to the other side) and do feel like I got a pretty restful night of sleep.  I think I'm going to like it - TRY it!!

  • I also dislike using it as a pillow, but otherwise really have trouble sleeping without it now. It keeps me on my side and my sciatic pain seems to have gone away since I got it.

  • I have the snoogle, and like it mostly, except for the fact you have to use it as a pillow, and I find the pillowcase rough. BUT if you are small, (I'm 5'3)  you can just push that part up over your real pillow and use the rest, which I discovered last week :)  I've been loving it since then.  They also have a boppy one which looks a little smaller (more of a J shape than a C shape?) I probably would have gotten that one.

  • i bought it a few weeks ago. im not a side sleeper so this was an adjustment, i tried the regulr body pillow first and couldnt get comfortable. the snoogle has helped alot with getting comfortable so i would definetely give it a try.
  • Before the Snoogle graced its way into our home, I slept like crap and woke up a lot in the middle of the night. The Snoog and I are like bread and buttah! I even took it on a recent trip. I highly recommend it :-)
  • I love my boppy body pillow.  DH will snuggle up to one side of it for a while before falling asleep.  It's about $50 at target.  Definitely worth it.  Though last night, with my wonderful back pain, I couldn't sleep even with it.  I ended up sleeping on the couch.

  • I would like to try the snoogle, but I just can't bring myself to spend the money on it... if I KNEW I loved it I think it would be worth it, but I've heard such mixed reviews from friends and on the bump.. I think I'm going to stick with my regular pillows strategically situated around me..

  • After reading all the reviews, I bought the Snoozer. Similar to Snoogle, but not exactly the same. I love it! Expensive but I've been sleeping pretty well. There are various positions you can use with it, which I like.
  • I meant to get a body pillow at Walmart this weekend, but forgot. I might pop into Target this week and pick one up.  I am way too cheap to spend $40+ on a pillow.  I'm a very light, restless sleeper as-is, so I don't think a Snuggle will help me *that* much.

  • For those who say it is too expensive:  if you use it every night until the end of your pregnancy it will cost less than a dollar a night.  I would pay for that if it meant a good night's sleep.  Use cost/benefit analysis!

  • Love my Snoogle.  I got it a few weeks ago and have slept wonderfully with it.  I was bummed at first that I couldn't use my regular pillow for my head, but it doesn't even bother me now.  I sleep through the night (unless I have to pee lol) and my back, neck, and pelvis feel so much better than they did before I got it.  As for the price, I was sleeping so poorly before I got it that I would have paid almost anything just to get a good night's rest!  I don't find it too warm, but we also sleep with our a/c at 65 because I'm a polar bear, so that may be why I haven't had a problem with it.

Good point!  Plus, I can't promise I won't sleep with it after baby too!

  • I got the boppie full body pillow. I like it but I still wake up with back pain even when I use it. I think it's worth the $. I got it at BRU using a BBB coupon.

  • I have not found the Snoogle very helpful. It's too bulky & it's strenuous for me to try & move it around under the blanket. My back hurts more when I use it than when I don't.

  • I will not go anywhere without my Snoogle. It was worth every penny. It fits me very well. My husband and I travel all summer, and it travels also. It fits in our big suitcase. It even flew on the airplane when we flew to Devner. My husband knows we do not go anywhere without the Snoogle. Anything to sleep comfortable. My husband did recently request I move the snoogle to my other side if it was comfortable becuase every time he reaches for me in the middle of the night he was getting the snoogle.

  • My Snoogle Mini and I are not friends. I have it stuffed under my bed. I find that for me, I dislike using it to cushion my head and it's stuffed too full to support my knees/legs the way I like.

I think a "J" shaped pillow may have worked out better for me but I'm not sure. I have back/neck/hip issues without having my entire center of gravity shifted and my pelvic bone moving around  daily so I'm probably a little more picky about what I use and what positions I prefer. I have four regular pillows and a little, short roll pillow that I sleep with every night. Our bed is already crowded. :)

  • I love my snoogle because it has a lot back support, but I would rather have my own pillow.  I heard they make a "mini" version where you can use your own pillow and I think that would be better.  It is kind of hot, but no hotter than having a bunch of pillows around you.  We just plugged in an extra fan in our room blowing right on me!  I think it's better than the bobby one because it can support your entire back and legs/stomach at the same time.  It probably wouldn't be comfortable if you were rather tall though - I'm 5'4" and it's just about the perfect length.  It's definitely worth the money and it comes with directions on how to use it as a nursing pillow later if you so choose.  Amazon has them for cheaper than the stores!!

  • I have a back and belly pillow from Target.  Expensive but worth it imho.  I am sleeping much better.  Still not great because I have insomnia, but better.  The only thing I don't love is that it makes me hot so I keep a fan on.

  • I got a snoogle-like pillow brand new on ebay for WAAAYYYYY cheaper and I prefer it to the 6-8 pillows I was using before.  I must say that I do still have two other pillows that I use with it.... we keep the ceiling fan on.
  • I have the Boppy Total Body Pillow, and LOVE It. I would definitely recommend it. I sleep with that in front of me, and a body pillow behind me. I sleep so much better with it than I did with just a bunch of regular pillows.

  • YES I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Snoogle!

I do have a suggestion for those that do not like having to use the snoogle as a pillow- if you swap the big curved end around to between your legs, the less curved end allows for you to use a regular pillow VERY comfortably.

The snoogle is something that I had to get used to but now, there is no way that I can sleep comfortably without it. I have also started using the extra curved end of the snoogle as my reguar pillow.

I toss and turn alot- but the way the snoogle is designed, I can just turn over and curl the far end between my legs and go right back to sleep.

P.S. I saw a snoogle at Burlington the other day for 40 bucks!

  • I couldn't live without my snoogle. We are going camping in Coeur d'Alene in a few weeks and even though it will smell like campfire I couldnt imagine not bringing it. Best investment ever!
